Re: Right for the wrong reasons. Covid-19 and climate change
Well the smog above Los Angles cleared up last year. They were at a loss because many of the locals had never seen clear blue skies before.

Re: Right for the wrong reasons. Covid-19 and climate change
There are so many anti-science movements over on this side of the world. Climate Change Deniers, Anti-Vaxxers, Anti-Maskers, Creationists, Flat Earthists, Moon Landing Deniers, just to name a few. There is a lot of overlap between them, and they are growing in numbers, too. This is largely due to Youtube and Facebook helping to spread the disinformation far faster and further than ever. It's a huge and serious problem up here.

Hegdeh I don't think it is a disbelief in climate change, because it does change. IMO it is a disbelief in how it is presented. So much is out of context and is often viewed on an incorrect scale. Climate change does happen and humans are the cause of part of it ... but it is also a natural cycle of life as well. Both need to be combined when look at the over all situation if you wish a realistic assessment, IMO.
Sadly, as Jaded pointed out, social media has given many, like the anti-science movement, a platform to speak from. A civil discussion can be had with an individual. People tend towards the herd mentality, which makes social media that much more dangerous.

- This may have come from a movie, but it states the case quite simply.

Oh but the change is unprecedently fast, that is well known, we are screwing too much, I was taught that at school in the 90s over 2 decades ago, we've seen the consequences.

Point of order: The moon landing was faked. But it was faked by Stanley Kubrick, and he is such a perfectionist that he insisted the entire thing be filmed on location.JadedDM wrote:There are so many anti-science movements over on this side of the world. Add to that, a lot of the warnings/predictions the climate changers have pushed, have never occurred... First we were gonna go into a new ice age before 2000.. that never materialized.. Then they said we'd be suffering catastropic flooding by 2010.. that also never occured.. and so on.Lukafio wrote:Hegdeh I don't think it is a disbelief in climate change, because it does change. ADD to that, the # of those who PUSH the climate change agenda, who THEN FLY THEIR OWN private jets, to their own private yachts, and who own 3+ homes, and THEY ARE LECTURING US about 'we need to cut BACK on our personal emissions etc???
