if you had the powers of a paladin and...

Post by New Hegdeh »

If you discovered you had been given the powers of a paladin (including bonded mount and all, to determine your level divide your age in years by "x", the value of "x" is 1d3+2) and with that also the option to take up to 10 quests, each quest involves a modern day problem you need to propose a solution for and the quest giver needs to agree that the solution is lawful and good (you however can retain whatever alignment you identify yourself as long as you don't do any evil and don't do much chaos, your powers won't be lost for being true neutral, neutral good or even chaotic good or whatever you think you are), in return for each quest you will gain magical items (relics and artifacts prohibited, charges can be recovered by connecting the item to a solar pannel during daylight hours where the sun can shine bright upon the solar pannels, solar towers can also be used, electricity obtained from other sources is not useful to this purpose, weapons exclusive to deities and outer planar beings are allowed even if they are normally described as not allowed to any but themselves, ditto for magical items exclusive to any class whatsoever):
1.one suit of magical armor (the best modern armor by construction, but the enchantments correspond to those of any three magical armors in the encyclopedia magica or similar source), the quest must be somehow defensive
2.one shield, (the best modern body shield by construction, but the enchantments correspond to those of any two magical shields in the encyclopedia magica or similar source), the quest must be somehow defensive
3-6.four weapons (arrows and bolts are not counted but you can go on minor quests for them, one of the weapons has to be a holy sword), the quest must be somehow someting that involves going on the offense, and the weapons are all medieval or older in design (no firearms, no explosives) but can use the best of contemporary chemical engineering and materials engineering and other modern techniques that allow for superior weaponry.
7-10.four other magical items, all which are portable, the quests match the magical item one way or another.

Feel free to participate even if you can't picture which quests (all or some) you would propose, just which items you would want...

For instance I would choose:
1.Armor of Flight (from DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Rules Cyclopedia)+Armor of Gaseous form (from same source)+Armor of Healing (from Oriental Adventures)
2.Holy Shield (from Polyhedron Newszine 58)+Shield of Haste (from DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Rules Cyclopedia)
3.The sword of the aasimon (from the Outer Planes MC Appendix)
4.Courtain, the short sword (from DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Master Set, a holy sword)
5.Deathstriker axe (from Dragon's Rest)
6.Mace of crushing (from POLYHEDRON Newszine 47)
7.Libram of golems
8.Shovel of animation (from the book of marvelous magic)
9.Portal locator (from the Spelljammer campaign set)
10.Combination log (log of burning and log of floating, all are from the book of marvelous magic)

I know I can come up with cool quests to gain these items (and use them as a 7th level paladin) but since they involve contemporary politics and religions I cant share them now. if you too can only think of political or religious quests that fail the rules of the boards, feel free to keep that quest to yourself.

Sounds fun ... I figured it out that I would be lvl 17, but then I was tired so I took a nap. I wouldn't mind watching something like this unfold.

Did you roll a lucky 1? I rolled a 3 and thus had to divide my age by 5... But a 7th level paladin still is strong.

Lucky? LOL I had a 1 in 3 chance.
What if I told you I had rolled a 3 and still came out level 17?

you've got the wisdom of years, being a paladin would revitalize you, what would you choose?

A bag of never ending buttered popcorn ... I jest  Here you go.

I would select a Crucible of Blackflame and take up a quest for Immortality along the Path of the Polymath. :knight:
