I thought I would post a small log of what you may or may not like to know before joining us online in the world of Arkuth PW server. As a player, you would want to know the following;
0.) Gods: play a major role in the world, if you don't have a deity, you are only harming your long term chances of success. They game often prompts for praying, worshiping, reactions, shrines etc and if you don't have a god, you risk missing out on a ton of freely given bonuses. At login, make sure to speak to the deity selection object. It will help you choose an applicable god to this world. DO NOT JUST TYPE IN RANDOM GODS! This world has its own unique pantheon.
1.) STARTING AREA: You start in medium sized town in a temperate climate wilderness. Weather is generally nice and there are lots of things to do and explore. Note though, that leaving the confines of the town walls has risk.. not much just outside the walls, but if you start leaving the starting area and wandering into the wilderness, then elevate in danger promptly.
The first few areas are tailored to low level PCs obviously, but if you choose to hang around high level PC's, they might just draw the attention of things that can easily kill your low level PC. So it's best to go on yer own or in a low level party at first. You can also hire a henchmen to help you along.
2.) JOBS: Yes I like to make the world realistic. There are several mundane jobs / hobbies you can do when you first start out to make the transition to adventurer a tad easier. Local jobs include; "Turkey hunting" (just get a weapon and go hunt turkeys for the farmer on the east hillside), "Fishing" (buy a pole from the equipment shop and find a creek, river or lake to fish in), Wood Harvesting (Grab n axe or use yer sword, talk to the fellow in the NW part of the map and gain some hard earned wealth), "Guardsmen", (yes you can even join the guard IF your a trained fighter, get paid to keep the peace.)
There are other jobs found throughout the realm to. Some fan favs are "Blacksmithing", "Smelting", "Jeweler", "Bowyer", "Mining". If you don't even want to adventure you can simply start your own shop!
3.) HENCHMEN: Yes as mentioned, we tailored this world to not require DM's, or PC's for that matter. If there is nobody online for you to join or play with, you can always hire henchmen. You can find them everywhere and create your own party.
In the starting town you can find up to 7 Henchmen, usually ready to hire. They are named as follows. "Kyfu" found in Horvels Inn, "Borme" found in Talgards Blacksmith shop, "Austral" found in the house of prayers, "Horrn" found in the Dragon's Paw Guild, along with "Ardun" as well, "Korrd" found in the Tall Tower Inn and a special someone hiding in the hard to get in Mage Tower. You can also hire quite a few torch bearers... really cheap!
Each player can have up to 4 henchmen at one time... not including summons or horses.
