Ok.
Lets say your gruop consists of a L5 elf F/M who is flying, a Dwarf L6 f using his cloak of the bat to fly, and 3 other pcs, all riding on horseback.
An enemy caster targets the 3 riders with say a fireball.
How do YOU handle the saves for those mounts? Do you have them save at the HD the animal is (so a light riding horse is a 2hd critter, but counted as 1hd due to the whole "half level for saves for low intelligent rule in the 1e dmg). Or do you have them save at the level of their rider, such as the L7 paladin riding his warhorse would have the horse save as that paladin?
Additionally, do you allow any pluses the rider has to saves, apply to the mount??

Re: Mounts and saving throws
I think I just answered this over on dragonsfoot
they save as monsters of their HD dictate
is this 1e? if so, the paladin has pro vs evil 10'r that might help, if the fireball comes from an evil attacker. 2e paladins don;t have that. Few to no pluses will add to the mounts (ring of protection 5'r would, etc)
