HI. I'm Zid.

Post by ziddersroofurry »

Hey, all.

My name is Zid, and I'm an old school gamer. Well I guess 'older school' would be a bit more appropriate. I started playing rpg's in 1984 when I was just ten years old (earlier if you count D&D for the Coleco). I started out with the D&D red box when I managed to find a little hole in the wall hobby store one day while riding my bike around town. It was a tiny little place, and the regulars there were old school geeks (save for the owners girlfriend who looked like she was right out of a Bon Jovi video. They decided to let me join in, and while I was pretty much the butt of their practical jokes most of the time I didn't care because the game blew me away.

After I got out of high school I met a guy in college who I ended up being friends with. He told me that he'd started up his old game group only his old group ended up deciding they didn't have time for it so would I like to join he and his younger cousins in order to make a new group? "Sure!" I said. It had been over five years since I'd gotten to play, and I missed it. That group ended up being a life changing experience. We spent the next ten years playing 1st edition AD&D. Since I stopped playing tabletop games in 2000 I've had more experience playing mmo's (Everquest, Vanguard, Lotro, and now Wildstar) but I still love tabletop.

Sometimes I wish I were part of an active group but there's a lot of hassle that goes along with that sort of thing so I don't miss it -that- much.

I'm going to be 40 in August, I'm pansexual, and poly. I live with my two most wonderful partners, I have a lot of great friends, and most of the good in my life came my way because of my love of role playing games.

Thanks for keeping the flame burning, and can't wait to get to know folks.

Hey Zid :) Welcome to the site. Always good times here and lots of debates. Hope your heart is strong as sometimes it gets pretty heated. We have patient players and DM's alike but it 's those kind of people that make D&D great!

Enjoy! :D

Thanks for the welcome. I try to do my best to stay out of drama when possible though if I see people being demeaning or disrespectful towards anyone I tend to lightly admonish lol Say is there a list of rules anywhere?

Hi Zid, my name is Matt.
We kind of have parallel experiences in the way that we started playing. I too was the youngest in the group by at least three years and therefore oftentimes the goat. But like you,the appeal of the game made me persevere and keep going back (for about three more years anyway). I'm not that far ahead of you in finding this great place. :newb:
Why don't you tell us what area you are from? Welcome and jump right in, please. :welcome:

Heya and welcome
As far as drama don't take anything anyone says (especially bm) too seriously and you'll be fine :D

Often I was the youngest but I learned to think outside of the box and then I learned to run a game (and I'm still learning :D) but anywho welcome and have fun

No set list anywhere yet, I'm not big on SET rules, but we do not tolerate religion or political topics. They are deleted immediately and the offender is warned. If they do it again, I simply ban them. No racism, no porn, respect for all is not required, but expected.

Cursing is fine and I promote free speech. within reason ;)

Hi, Zid,
FYI: there's no real need for you to admonish anyone, lightly or otherwise. That often leads to arguments and bad blood.
If you feel there's an issue, let one of the mods know. We'll handle it.

To back up what Cole has just said, we're not big on written rules here. As long as everyone's respectful, and nobody's being a jerk, and we can all play nicely in the sandbox. :)

Welcome aboard.

Welcome, welcome!

I'm English. When I read you post I initially thought 'pansexual' was someone who has physical pleasure with a tapered and fluted set of musical pipes. Then I tried to figure out how that would work, I concluded that you would end up with a whistle while you walk. Then I realised what you meant...

As I'm English, we never talk about our sexual preferences. Because we don't have any.
