When I Die, I Will Live On
When I die, do not bury me within the ground.
I will not take up the space where a tree should grow.
Do not place me within the walls of a solid tomb.
Cold, dank; where I can no longer hear a sound.
Place my body upon a funeral pyre.
Lay me upon branches of oak, ash and cottonwoods.
Cover me with boughs of lilac and flowering dogwoods.
A pillow of thyme, sage and lavender to rest my head upon.
Gather the ashes to spread upon the desert sands.
To flow amongst the red rocks with the spirits there.
I will not be alone, I will walk with others.
And you will know I am there.
When you walk upon the ground, you will hear my sighs.
When you feel the breeze, I will be caressing your skin.
With the heat of day, you will feel my passion for you.
With the rain, you will feel my tears that I cannot be with you in body.
When I die, I will live on.
I will watch you grow old, but share every moment.
I will hold you close as you pass out of this life.
Finally, together, we will walk the desert sands together; to climb the red rocks once more.
When I die, I will live on.

Hey, thought I should tell you; wonderful writing. I like your poetry. Good stuff. It brought me back to a time when I lived in the desert in Las Vegas NV. I so miss the amber of the sunset on the Red rock canyon floor. Thanks for quickening my memory.

Re: Still Writing...
Thank you gentlemen. Actually, much of it has to do with reality; with my Pagan beliefs, and the plans my husband and I have made if the time ever comes for our passing. Then again, currently I have my life planned out to the age of 200, so...
