Still enjoy 2E best. I have played 3E, but had too much trouble keeping all the new rules and such straight; and the metagaming by others just got too extreme to handle.
Long live the Witch Queen!!!

2E is basically perfect. you can mod the rules a bit.
i cant stand all the changes to 3E. all the spells are different, too many feats.

Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
started with a couple of 2ADND games
moved to 3E and 3.5 both playing and DMing
played some d10 stuff
also doing 4E playing and DMing
right now I am getting the Role Playing Club at my college into DND by having them play and DM 4E,
but I hope to be able to play some 3 or 3.5 with them at some point
personally I have liked all of the systems and enjoy them for the uniqueness that they each have.

Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
I am a 1st and 2nd edition player. If I am running the game then I prefer to stick with 2nd edition although I never did get into any of the complete handbooks. I hated them in my teens...maybe in my advanced age (40) I will check them out again.
Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
Traditionally, I played a fair bit of 2nd ed and it's probably still my favourite edition for certain things. In particular, it's the edition which I felt had the greatest flavour - for example, it had greater levels of detail around monsters in the MM, around their societies, etc. Alignment restrictions for classes were strict, which made them more distinct. I moved onto third, largely because that's what my group was interested in moving to, but have to say that I do like it as well. Have played 4th ed, but it really didn't capture my attention. Felt too much like a board game than an RPG.
I've recently looked at starting up with 2nd ed again, but am now also keen to give 5th ed a go.
Otherwise, I haven't played a lot of DnD in a couple years, but have played a bit of Dark Heresy in the last couple years - while the mechanics are quite broken, the game world and concept does lend itself to investigation focused adventures, and I think it certainly helped me develop a lot as a GM. Have also played VTM a number of times - I love the lore in the World of Darkness, but have to say that when running it, I don't think I've ever managed to capture the feel of the setting.
Cheers

I also DM a D&D 5e. Campaign.
I suppose I am becoming more open to trying new systems nowadays, which is good.

Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
I DM 2E and 4E, both version are different but still are fun. I had to modify some rules on 4E to make it fluid, like D6 roll after a basic ( melee or range ) attack to recharge encounter or daily power. And some fluff like this make player decission faster.

Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
95% 2e (Dm mostly, play occasionally)
4.9% 3.5 (play occasionally)
0.1% 5e (joined a game but haven't started yet. char creation is done though)

Re: What Edition/Version of D&D do you play?
3.5e here mostly, completely.
Thanks to Tristen above I am enjoying the heck out of 2E.
However, directed at Tristen above(or anyone), I'd be willing to try 5th or 4th. Just to try mostly, maybe as a novelty heh. I don't think I'd enjoy them, but thinkings never gotten me very far so better give it a shot.
I've yet to even try Pathfinder as well, though from what I've heard I might just enjoy it.
So yeah, 3rd edition pretty much

Namenlos,
There is actually a pathfinder(ish?) game (Quest for the missing Quill) in progress on the gaming forums here, and a 5e game is getting started by Xelphyn (Requiem of Despair) there as well. Jaded and I are both in line for the the 5e game once it starts up

Sent Xelphyn a PM so hopefully he'll get back on there soon! haha.
4E implemented the healing surges right? did that carry into 5E? and perhaps I should have started with, healing surges was an ability everyone can use to just heal themselves, correct? ...About to submit and realized I could probably(probably? definitely!) find the answer online, but I'd prefer the discussion anyway if someone would like to answer
Anyone know if this is a justified game mechanic or do people just auto heal naturally? I'd still like to try them to find out how I feel.
