Re: Mephs' 3D Printed Terrain & Minis

Going to try and clear my entire backlog of minis. Will take a while but I am hoping to do at least some painting every night. Here are my last 2 nights. Reaper Knight and Reaper Orc Marauder. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7916/46525494402_57ee7f477f_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7823/465254...

Re: Mephs' 3D Printed Terrain & Minis

Nah it's all about Variety. I like to paint stuff with different color schemes. Below is the one i have already painted so I will have 6 total. I plan to do one in a traditional purple color scheme and one as a zombie beholder.

Mephs' 3D Printed Terrain & Minis

So I have been 3D printing terrain for years now. I have backed a lot of different kickstarters and I love Printable Scenery's stuff. I just backed their latest kickstarter and went all in on it as well as a bunch of addon stuff. The kickstarter is below and you can see all of the stretch goals and ...

Re: Hybrid 1E/5E Rules

I am not going to disagree with you Halaster because as you can tell by my posts, I struggle to embrace 5E myself. It just doesn't, and most likely never feel like what I truly want from my game. My group consists of some of my best friends. My first edition was the Moldvay Basic set and I tinkered ...

Re: Hybrid 1E/5E Rules

He is referring to the 5E Unearthed Arcana. It's where WOTC publically releases test materials. The problem I have is that NONE of that stuff fits what I want thematically. Honestly, I like some of the 5E mechanics but when I say I want that old 1E feel it's more about the classes than anything. I w...

Re: Hybrid 1E/5E Rules

Why did you axe Warlocks, Sorcerers, and Barbarians if all is balanced? I also axed Tieflings and Dragonborn. For Tieflings, Dragonborn, Warlocks and Sorcerors - the main reason was that they weren't thematic to my world, and I felt that they added nothing to the game. It wasn't a balance issue - I...

Re: Need advice from 5e enthusiasts

I own most of the 5E adventures but honestly I dont know if I will ever get around to running them. The large scale adventures don't interest me too much. If you wanted smaller scale adventures to go into a homebrew world you should look at Kobold Press. Prepared and Prepared2 are both filled with e...

Re: Hybrid 1E/5E Rules

The Core Rulebooks specifically state that one should only use the Player's Handbook and ONE other source if using optional materials. So while you're right - too many class options bogs the game down, if you're allowing such a thing you're effectively home ruling it to be so. By the suggested core...

Re: Hybrid 1E/5E Rules

See I agree with you that 5E has a lot of balance in the classes, but they accomplished it by artificial means. They did nothing to make the wizard inherently any better, they just gave it options from other classes. When everyone can do similar things then I guess you have accomplished balance. WOT...

Re: Need advice from 5e enthusiasts

My group has repeatedly told me that they have had more fun with Waterdeep Dragonheist than any campaign they have ever been in, but I have a hard time recommending it to any group that isn't really into roleplaying. The adventure could also be run as written but I think it would be really fast and ...

Re: Need advice from 5e enthusiasts

I cannot recommend Lost MInes of Phandelver enough from the Starter Set. It's a great adventure with a great mix of play styles in it. It's really geared towards teaching new players (and DMs) but it doesn't hold your hand. It's a lot of fun. Here is my campaign thread from when I ran it. http://www...
