The Basic Set we got didn't come with dice, so we started off playing with little cardboard chits in paper cups and sent away for dice. And yes, I still have my first set of dice (although the d8 went missing somewhere along the way). WoW and I thought we had it rough  good fun, good times!

Ohhh that's wayyy back for me 1985 was my first D&D experience. A classmate name Christian Erstad introduced me to the game. (Never seen or heard of him since then). He was the DM and I made my first PC named Faloth the Unholy. We played 1E (my preferred edition) and Faloth was a magic-user. I c...

quite daunting indeed! I have asked for help many times over the years to do a combined campaign world here on padnd and not to many people could post or submit useable material or even thoughts for that matter. I Would love to see some homebrew campaign worlds developed on the site exclusively by o...

Any setting can be awesome. It depends entirely upon the skill of the person running the game. Why don't you come up with some unique races for a desert setting, maybe a few new Cleric Domains, and ask your GM to do something a little different? Races aren't hard if you base them on one of the pre-...

I still say the WoW argument is batty. I just don't see how this supposedly attracts WoW players. Simplicity CK, fight, whack, kill, fight whack kill ... boring tactics, simple rules, no real game thought required. WoW represents a game for people who like to drink, talk to them moms and watch tv a...

WoW! .... this makes my head spin. :( At least I can see the facts now, just doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm still an old school person. I can finally chok down 3E's idea of D&D and now 4E is here and it's WAYY off the scale. Some things sound neat, but it sounds like a game for kids, not for a...

Nick says (11:17 AM): everyone gets the ability to heal them selves, no need for a cleric THAT IS HORRIBLE .... I can see people using potions, bandages etc. BUT if its a magical healing ability ... thats just wrong :x Don't like the force at 10th lv either into a new class... wow! That list is eas...

WoW great read guys :) Thanks especially to you GreenKnight ;) That really bolsters my decision... I'll go with 3E / 3.5 e then. Seems to be catored towards the thinking mans game, rather then the hack n slash game. Although yer comments about 4e being more like AD&D somewhat made me think twice...

Great! Thanks guys... this really helps. I appreciate yer input ;) I really wanted to know because building a whole new realm is a HUGE time investment and I don't wanna build a 3E world, only to find out nobody even uses 3E anymore :( I just dug out all of my 3E books and began learning the rules, ...

Ahh, I like rules ;) I hear 4E is build on a system like World of Warcraft... now that is BRUTAL if you ask me. Is this true? What about 3E to 3.5? I have the 3E monster manual and the 3.5 E infront of me and I don't see any dif with the exception of 3.5 E having crammed more into it. Rather then pr...

Opinions & Help Please. 3/3.5/4E

Hey ALL :) All teasing/pooking fun and taunting aside I would really appreciate some of your valued opinions :) As some of you may have noticed I recently started work on a new Realm for my players and anyone else that cares to participate. I've recently decided to move on and drop my old world and ...
