Re: Live action superhero, fantasy and sci fi shows

... and I don't subscribe to any streaming services by personal choice, but thanks for sharing. There are people who watch TV that isn't streamed???  I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a TV show that was broadcast. At least a decade, I think. Probably back whenever the US...

Re: Live action superhero, fantasy and sci fi shows

I not a fan of CBS All Access (but hey it's their business) so I don't subscribe. I thought STLD was just an attempt to grab $$$ in a cheap way, same with STD (DISCO). I do have to admit that I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the stories and plot-lines that have come out of both. Yes I am ...

Re: Live action superhero, fantasy and sci fi shows

I enjoyed their version of Pike and the Enterprise, but that is all I saw of it. I'm not sure when, but Pike will be the focus of a confirmed new Star Trek series. That almost has me willing to pay for CBS access. Yes, it's going to be called "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds." But knowing w...

Re: Tst your vocabulary

I prefer metric myself, but sadly live in one of only three countries in the world that still uses imperial. ( U.S., Liberia and Myanmar) After a lifetime of using YYYYMMDD:HHMM it is still odd to do MM/YY or MM/DD/YYYY. Are you old in spirit? Age is in the mind :mage On the other hand, venerable, w...

Re: Tst your vocabulary

I got 33,700. many words which I knew I recognized from their similiarity to Spanish words Yeah, I also found that a lot of the harder words were very similar to Spanish words. I can speak Spanish (although not at your level of proficiency in English), and as such, many of those words I could work ...

Re: Tst your vocabulary

Copied this from their site. Most native English adult speakers who have taken the test fall in the range 20,000–35,000 words. And for foreign learners of English, we've found that the most common vocabulary size is from 2,500–9,000 words. [/url] Even though I was born in America, English is my seco...

Eddie Van Halen and D&D

This was sad news for some of us today. Eddie Van Halen passed away. :rip: I can recall many a game where we had his music playing in the background. Plus his influence within the music world was profound. There was this one time a few of us would breakout into air guitar solos while his songs were ...

Re: Orphan Trek

I know about the novels from memory beta but they do not seem to be canon due to conflicts between them and the series, however I do suppose they can be series-worthy... Which known characters appear on it? When you stop to consider when they were written and what was occurring in cannon lore, yes ...

Re: Orphan Trek

Has anyone read Star Trek: New Frontier series? The stories are centered upon Captain M'k'n'zy Calhoun and his crew aboard the USS Excalibur. Many of the characters are already know to TNG fans. To me that is an orphan trek in itself. Pity it was never turn into a TV show or movie. It had the potent...

Re: Can you get 'sunburned' from continual light stones..? (a parody thread)

I know that in reality a sunburn is just a mild form of a radiation burn, but if a plant can photosynthesize then a sunburn could happen. So would you carry some sort of natural sunblock with you? Can it be used to counter continual light?

Re: Books - Good and Bad

Someone (I think it was a PADnD member) suggested Jim Butcher's The Codex Alera series to me. I bought a six books from Amazon and have not been able to put them down since. I'm cursed with being a quick reader and hope to find something else soon. I may have to look into his Dresden Files series, y...

Can you get 'sunburned' from continual light stones..? (a parody thread)

Since we have a respectable answer to the thread Growing plants via continual light stones..? I thought we could take a fun lil detour and look at it in a more comical setting. Share your thoughts about the possible ways continual light spells can provide some comedic events in your games. Ready ......
