Re: Gaming and the vaccine..
Four months later, and now I've had both shots and am totally vaccinated (or 'vaxxed to the max' as I like to say). Unfortunately, my work hours have quadrupled, and I don't actually have time to try putting together an in-person D&D group now.

Re: D&D Humor
This reminds me a bit of something I saw years ago online. PC: I open the door into the next room. DM: You see an orc armed with a battleaxe guarding a chest. PC: I enter into a frank and meaningful dialogue with the orc, validating his right to guard chests, but not pigeon-holing him into a stereot...

Re: Right for the wrong reasons. Covid-19 and climate change
There are so many anti-science movements over on this side of the world. Climate Change Deniers, Anti-Vaxxers, Anti-Maskers, Creationists, Flat Earthists, Moon Landing Deniers, just to name a few. There is a lot of overlap between them, and they are growing in numbers, too. This is largely due to Yo...

Re: A Dungeons & Dragons film reboot
Yeah, Chris Pine is an odd choice instead. I wonder if this film is going to be set in the same generic setting as the old movies, or a new one?

Re: A Dungeons & Dragons film reboot
I only ever saw the original one. I suppose it can't possibly be worse than that one.

Re: Location, Location, Location ...
More like someone who wanted to try videogames went for high quality emulators of nes and supernes games... since the books are online, but I understand, its morally questionable to use the books that are online. Actually, emulators and ROMs are considered illegal, too. Even for old games that aren...

Re: Location, Location, Location ...
There is no need for new material, with the wealth of material AD&D already has, all you need is to know where to find it. Well, that's sort of what I mean. Nothing is being published; not just new material, but old material, either. It's no longer in print. You can't walk into a bookstore or a...

Makes sense, though. No new 2E material has been published in over 20 years.

On further research, I'll go with Charlotte, by virtue of it having the largest population. The way I figure, the more people in a city, the more likely you'll find D&D players.
Monroe - 46,780 people
West Palm Beach - 112,852 people
Augusta - 198,751 people
Charlotte - 2,054,000 people

Re: Location, Location, Location ...
They're all southern states, so it's hard to say. I grew up in MS, and granted that was over 20 years ago so no idea what it's like now, but back then the Satanic Panic was pretty popular, so D&D was seen as evil.

Re: Gaming and the vaccine..
Minor, temporarily side effects. And there's no reason to think waiting will change that. Human biology is quite messy; there will never be a vaccine or cure for anything that works 100% of the time with no problems. People have allergies or their body chemistry reacts in an unexpected way sometimes...

Re: Gaming and the vaccine..
What bugs? What side effects?
What religion has objections to vaccines? I'm not aware of any that do.
The only good reason to not take a vaccine is if you are physically unable to, due to health reasons (someone with immunodeficiency, for instance).

Re: Gaming and the vaccine..
I haven't gamed in person, face to face, in years now. But if I did, or if I ever do again (and I admit, it is something I've been thinking about), it would only be after the vaccine has been made available to everyone, for safety reasons. Would I game with an anti-vaxxer? No. Anyone who values thei...

Re: Dead vs DESTROYED
I don't really have a hard rule for it. Normally, I wouldn't rule the body was destroyed unless it was an extreme circumstance, like they fell into an acid pool or lava flow, or hit with a Disintegration spell. Something like that.
