Re: Stik's Art - Calligraphy and Illumination

When I have time I will copy them from photobucket to the image hosting site I'm using now.

Re: Stik's Art - Calligraphy and Illumination

I belong to two medieval recreation groups, and I did have someone get me started by showing me what books to read and what tools to buy, but otherwise, I am self-taught. That being said, if you are interested in learning calligraphy and illumination, I can get you started by, well, showing you what...

Re: Stik's Art - Calligraphy and Illumination

Yeah, 8 is a bit young. I did my first calligraphy in sixth grade, I think, then discovered it again as an adult.

Re: Stik's Art - Calligraphy and Illumination

Thank you for the compliment, Cole.
If your daughter expresses an interest in calligraphy, I can point you toward some books and materials.

It occurs to me that it has been some time since I've posted any of my work here, so here's an update (click on the thumbnails to enlarge): https://i.ibb.co/qrk90kh/Maddalena-Augmentation-CLEAN.jpg https://i.ibb.co/TMp3dbT/ChAoH.jpg https://i.ibb.co/xDCszQP/HHG-Latin.jpg https://i.ibb.co/44fnL7z/Dot...

Re: Music Game - Totally off topic

Here in the Pacific Northwest there is a classic rock station, KZOK, that was doing the contest up until about five years or so ago. They actually narrowed what the common thread could always be down to one of three possibilities: subject matter of the song, something all three performers have in c...

Re: Monotheism vs Polytheism

Point taken, Jaded. Perhaps I should have said "all-powerful Judeo-Christian-type god."
I am unfamiliar with any real-world monotheistic religion other than the four Abrahamic faiths, so I used that as an example.

Music Game - Totally off topic

I started this on FB, but I figure why not do it here, too? There was a radio station in Boston years ago that had a game where they played three songs and listeners had to call in and identify the common thread. A station in NYC also did something similar in the 2000s. I haven't heard anyone doing ...

We had two guys name Scot in our group years ago. We called on Scooter and the other SV (his initials).

Re: Monotheism vs Polytheism

By the way, with regard to statting, someone did actually go there. In his 1981 book Fantasy Wargaming - The Highest Level of All by Bruce Galloway did exactly that.
And badly, in fact. You have to be wary of book with a tagline like that.

Re: Monotheism vs Polytheism

I think the polytheism seen in most D&D worlds stems mostly from the source material the game was originally drawn from. I don't have easy access at the moment to the suggested reading list included in the First Edition AD&D DMG, but if memory serves, the Robert E Howard Conan stories, Micha...

Re: Check In Everyone!

I'm here. Actually more here than usual. After working for a few weeks from home, I have been temporarily furloughed from my job. Supposedly we will be returning to working from home next week. Either way, seeing as work is slow and I'll be working from home, I should have more time to spend here. I...
