Tarlyn (Private thread) Labyrinth of Madness

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

I just nees to know how many spellbooks I need..

For 7th level maybe less in the spellbook as it is newer?

I have chosen some spells from the Tome of Magic, Spells & Magic and the Complete Book of Necromancers

Yeah, it won't really matter if other people see your books so long as your char is ok with it.
If you want to do 1 spell book per spell level that might be the simplest way

Most of the spells (lvl 1-5 spells) look good, but there are a couple of caveats about 6th and 7th level spells it looks like were missed.

====
From the Rules Thread
-The Second Highest spell level (6) can be filled up to 50% +1 ‘freebie’ (in Your case this is 9+1 freebie)
-The Highest spell level (7) can be filled up to 25% +1 ‘freebie’(in Your case this is 4+1 freebie)
-Limited Wish can only be gained as a ‘freebie’ (meaning you roll a % chance to have discovered it since it is a VERY rare spell)

‘Freebie’ Spell:
This spell will be selected by the DM (I’ll just roll for it) from a list of 4 to 10 spells the player is interested in. This spell does not need to be rolled for % chance to learn. Thus if Peg really wants to get Limited Wish as a freebie, she should make a shorter list that includes it to increase her chances. If she gets a different spell, she can still try to learn it in-game provided she has access to a copy. NO LIMITED WISH SCROLLS.

A specialist can decide to select a new spell of their chosen school without rolling OR go for a ‘freebie’ from a different school as mentioned. The only exception to this is Limited Wish.

====

So the best odds for learning Limited Wish are to make a short list of 4 spells of 7th level you want to try for as freebies, and you will have a 25% chance to have found Limited Wish.

Ok I will update the spellbook later and roll for a chance at Limited Wish

So can you chose the freebies for my level 1 to 6 then?

I will do a d100 roll for limited wish and hope for the best.

Limited Wish [1d100]=18

Haha, nice! So you rolled below 20%, if you want only 4 or 5 in the list that means you get the limited wish ^_^

So you get:
1 freebie for the highest level (which was limited wish)
1 freebie for the 2nd highest level (6th level) (so pick a list of 4-10 spells you don't already have that you want and i'll roll randomly)
2 freebies for the 3rd highest lvl (5th level) (so pick a list of 4-10 spells you don't already have that you want and i'll roll randomly)

Btw, did you want a quasit familiar as well?
They don't have to look like small demonic creatures, but can resemble normal animals or even just shadowy outlines.

They can fly, go invis, have poison, etc. There is a section on them in complete necromancer. Anther big benefit is when bonded to a necromancer, they add their hp max total (3d8) to their master. So you could potentially get up to 24 more hps!

The downsides are:
-if a fiendish famikiar is killed the master must make a save vs death magic or perish. Even if they live, they lose 4 xp levels
-the familiar probably gets their master's soul when the master dies

I will try the Quasit and yes it looks like a Quasit but if it can remain invisible okay lol
