Act 2 Scene 5: "Cavern of the Crown of Souls" (Game Thread)

Mira screams at the Kender, knowing it was pointless she changes her direction and runs towards him, her eyes wide with fear.

Karl swings his blade blocking any attacks on the others.

Cross will cast a Magic Missile, at the skeleton.

Cross and Merrick fire magical missiles at the skeleton, but both spells dissipate as they strike as if the creature had some form of resistance! Mira shouts at Pyros as he dons the Crown and concentrates, but aside from the Skeleton taking notice, nothing obvious happens. Jerry shouts to Elsa and Adran to move towards her to enter the other gate. Elsa has already begun searching for small stones and finds a pair as she begins her spell.

Adran moves towards the Mystaran as the warrirors renew their attacks on the creature; Adrastia managing a hit. As Adran approaches the gate, another skeleton appears, similarly attired in armor and with a two-handed sword! The Elf stabs at it with his short sword that passes completely through the creature without harming it; almost as if it were somewhat incorporeal! Elsa finishes her spell and joins the others near the new arrival.

The first plate armored skeleton slashes again at Pytor but his swing falls wide. With no significant strikes to block, Sir Karl lays into the first skeleton with two powerful blows, damaging the undead significantly!

"Dammit Pyros that thing isn't a toy, we dont know what it is, or what it will do to you." Mira curses, her mind made up as she keeps a magic missle on her lips and heads after Elsa.

"You will not pass, and you will not win." Karl utters in a calm detached tone as he strikes once more.

"I thought this was supposed to be powerful! Why is that skeleton still standing!" He thinks of the skeleton falling apart.
"Hey you bag of bones, look what I have!"

Jerry calls, "Pyros, try commanding them to 'return whence they came'."
Shaking her head, Jerry readies her mace and advances to try and but her friends some time. She tries to hit the undead that's just arrived..

"If you folks want to try and withdraw to run away, either another exit or to jump down the central hole, then fine. I don't think it'll make too much difference in a very short while. I'm content to meet Mystra!"

Cross backs away from the new arrival While the warriors continue to chip away at the powerful skeleton. Karl manages another strike against the creature, damaging it badly. The original skeleton returns the action by scoring a hit on the knight as well! Pyros concentrates on mentally disassembling the first skeleton. The undead seems unaffected, but when Pyros shouts to it, indicating the crown, the bony pate turns to regard the Kender with glowing red eye-sockets.

Pytor withdraws from the first skeleton to head off the second. Both he and Jerry attack the creature but find themselves unable to connect with their weapons. Elsa throws two magical stones at it as well, but both miss.

Adran distances himself from the new arrival and fires a pair of magical missiles at it. Both strike and damage the second skeleton! Merrick follows suit, badly damaging it! This one doesn't seem resistant to magic. he calls to the others. Jerry tries to usher everyone out of the room, and Merrick moves towards the next arch. As he approaches, a third skeleton steps from the new archway! Merrick pales visibly. A... another one!

Seeing the second skeleton appear Mira ends her invisibilty with a deep frown, loosening three magic missiles towards the same creature Elsa threw her stones. The magical bolts appearing for her fingers as she hums a little tune, too wound out to even sing.

"Climb to the middle stone!"

The warriors continue their assault on the skeleton, though his defenses seem too complete to breach. Adran and Mira fire a volley of magical missiles at the second skeleton, destroying it in a shower of bone chips!

Pyros concentrates on the crown again and commands all the skeletons to move to the central platform. To the shock of the warriors surrounding it, the skeleton stops fighting and begins to walk past them! The trio strike at the retreating undead, but to no avail as it strides purposefully straight into the webs! It continues to claw its way through the webbing towards the central platform…

Elsa and Pytor rush up to the third skeleton, which goes down in but a single blow from the halfling! Elsa looks at her mace, surprised. Wow… that one was much easier…

Cross merely makes sure he is out of the way.

"Not all the same. Weird. Karl you are the most armored, get through that door, the rest of you go if nothing else comes out. We'll follow. Pyros, get that damn crown off your head!" Mira shouts, circling the hole as she pulls anyone else along that might be there. "We all use the same door, dont want us split up."

"Who's hurting?"asks Jerry who then dresses a could of wounds. Anyone still hurt, the severest first, can have some magical healing.

Before leaving she eyes anything either on or dropped by the skeleton, in particular anything with writing or that looks like it might be a key.

"I am injured, but I feel that perhaps departing now would be a good idea." Karl staggers a little but maintains his ability to stand, still holding his blade he shakes his head. "We must assume that all gates have a guardian, and that one is killed, that means one less, if we chose another it would only require more to fight. Stay behind me." If no one stops him Karl will start to get everyone to the gate he stands by.
