I would just like to point out that cancer sucks.
This time it's my cat.
We brought her into the emergency animal hospital Monday night because she was having difficulty walking. By Tuesday afternoon, her back half was paralyzed. The neurologist and two vets say she most likely has a brain or spinal tumor.
They gave her some steroids to help the symptoms, and she's shown a little bit of recovery, but it's not a cure - it's just giving her a little more time.
This sucks.

Update on our cat, in case anyone is reading this: she has responded well to the steroids the vet prescribed, and is currently pretty close to normal. You probably wouldn't know anything was wrong if you saw her - amazing for an animal that was paralyzed nine days ago.
She still has cancer, and eventually it is likely to get to the point where the paralysis returns, but in the meantime we have some bonus time with our cat.

Turns out RoseF was premature in committing to the game, and will need a few weeks before she joins us. I am going to NPC her character for the time being.

Couldn't fit Ferric's picture as my avatar. My avatar looks more like the "Live" me. This is what Ferric looks like

The Character Descriptions thread would be a good place to post this.
Just sayin'.

No worries, Jen. I was late in posting.

Hey - I had mentioned about my cat being sick. Latest word from our regular vet (who we went to for a follow-up) is that her latest bloodwork results do not suggest cancer as strongly as the previous round, and that her problem might be a spinal disc issue. That would be a better prognosis than cancer, and we have scheduled her for X-rays to confirm.
In either case, the treatment is the same - steroids for the rest of her life. But if it's not cancer, that would be a longer term solution rather than just palliative care.

Just a heads-up: we've got a new player coming in, and depending on what she ends up playing, it could impact the how the next few interactions shape up. Please be patient.

The best things about being back to work full-time:
Earning a full paycheck;
Feeling like a productive member of society;
Not worrying about not having a job to go back to.

The worst things about being back to work full time:
Getting up early;
Stress;
Having 60 hours less of free time during the week.

Hey - it's Jen. :)
Yes, I've been called away for a bit. I've been working ten or eleven hours a day Monday to Friday, plus one or both days every weekend since the beginning of October, which has put a hitch in most of my plans. There was a bit of a shake-up at my job the end of September, and the folks who are left have had to double our efforts. We interviewed two guys on Friday, and I think we will be hiring one of them, plus we're getting caught up a bit, so things should settle down soon so I can get back to this properly.
