The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

Using his engineering background he will figure out the depth that would be required to safely hold the liquid while spreading the stone out horizontally.

"Let's just spread it out as much as you can, to make the liquid as shallow as possible."

Galan listens to the conversation while taking some scraps from the floor, put them in the goo that was left from the creature they battled and put it gently in the first vat. "I think the idea of Van is to turn the vat into a shallow pool. Increase it's diameter while lowering the hieght, so the liquid stays within... So if you double the diameter the height should be reduce 4 times and be about 1 foot. Which is still 3 times too much, but if you manage to make the diameter 3 times larger the height will be reduce by nine and that should be enough..." He muses while being busy with his experiments.

"Yes, I agree, it will get more shallow as we spread it out. The wider the bottom the less wall is needed. So as far as he can spread it we should."

Faldair nods along as they describe their intentions. He takes out a small portion of clay and prepares his prayer. The clay begins to glow with a bluish light, and the fair-haired cleric molds it into the shape of a shallow dish as he continues his sonorous chant. Touching the stone vessel with the clay dish, the blue light transfers to the vat which slowly begins to sag and deform. The murky liquid inside follows the container and in moments the vessel has transformed into a wide, shallow pool. It is difficult to be certain, but there seems to be something small within the murky liquid...

"Bryce, could you push that to the side?"

"We can now use the hook. The liquid is shallow enough." Galan says while tapping Faladair shoulder. "You never cease to amaze me my friend." he says quietly, knowing how humble his friend is.

After fishing around in the liquid for a little bit they come up with another piece of metal about the same size as the one before. This second piece is a brassy color and straighter than the other, but is fashioned with grooved sections that make it obvious it attaches to something else.

"And ,maybe try to assemble both pieces together once it is clean." Galan suggests.

Once clean, the two pieces fit together perfectly to form a large Key.

===
1 vat is empty (the ooze that was killed), 1 vat is full of basically dirty water, and 1 vat is now a wide shallow pool of mild acid

Zafron will start the search on the South Wall and move clockwise. Looking for key holes and secret doors.

Zafron spends 10 minutes searching the west half of the South wall but finds no keyholes (is he continuing down the hallway or skipping the hall and continuing in the room?)

Van would like to have searched an area he didn't before, for doors.
