Shagos Happenings - Rayman and GeeGee

GG sits near Flatbelly as requested, but on the opposite side of the table so that each can see anything approaching the other from behind.

[Nocturno]

"Of course, the newest editions to the family. We needed to welcome you to the house."

Once everyone is seated Marie will introduce the people.

"Harry, and Anne, they are the Family's personal assistants. Kevword and Frillamir, brothers and the cleaning crew, the omniscient Lorbin, and the children Jacques, Diana, and Nilfaerd."

Harry and Anne, Humans, likely married, both have rings and are sitting close together. Kevword and Frillamir half elves, the children, all appear to be human, probably Harry and Anne's.

"And of course Arnold. Eat, eat, don't be shy!" Marie takes a seat beside Arnold and adds food to her plate. With a relaxed sigh she starts to eat.

Once Rayman, and GG start to eat everyone will start. Small chatter will break out, mundane things about their day. Or occasional scolding of the children to sit and eat.

Everyone is friendly and seems to be in a good mood.

GG will join in the small talk but mostly listening and asking appropriate questions.

During the course of the conversations GG learns that there are three major temples in the city.

T1: Marthammor Duin - God of guides, explorers, expatriates, travelers, lightning
T2: Mystra - Goddess of magic, spells, the Weave.
T3: Umberlee - Goddess of oceans, currents, waves, sea winds

The major landmarks that the folk point out are:

L1: Tower of Experimentation - Restricted to Members of the Shagos College, but it is tall enough to be seen through the whole city.
L2: Midtown Market - The main marketplace.
L3: Shallow Docks - Many workers have made their home on the small island to be close to work
L4: The Floating Market - Where the Above Water Folk trade with the Tritons who protect the Lower City
L5: The Deep Docks - Where the larger sea faring ships will dock.

They don't know of any tunnels, just the normal sewer/drain systems, or where any maps would come from. Maybe the Master would know.

Everyone seems very happy here, but they are all worried about the epidemic of Blur making its rounds. Almost all rumours lead to fear of the drug problem. Crime rates going up, mostly petty thefts and assaults. Everyone is in agreement, life in the city was much better before Blur became prominent. Noone is sure what to do about it though.

On a lesser note, they are all excited about seeing folks from the East, trading stories and wares, trying new recipes, or ways of doing their normally mundane work.

I think there would not be enough time to pick up any kind of new skill.

They will pull out a map of the city and draw on it for GG.

GG is very appreciative and says so, broad smiles and nods all round.

He tries to draw out detail on gaining Membership of the Shagos College. (Or else who might know).

Flatbelly will speak a bit about the different gods and will be more than happy to tell a lot about the goddess of nature. He will also appreciate the fact that everyone treats them as family as well as they get along between themselves so good. It is not common as far as he understand relationships in cities. He will make a mental note to see if he can enter the Tower either as college member, visitor, trading knowledge or any other option. Maybe Lorbin or the landlord can help with that. And also to go and see the floating market and deep docks.
"Do you know any one in particular that is using Blur? Do you know if there are areas in the city that the drug is more common there than other areas?" Flatbelly asks.

[Nocturno]

The consensus is the Family members would know more about the college. But the staff know you must be invited or referred by a past/current member.

Harry looks up at the mention of someone who is using Blur. "Aye, I had a cousin who was on the stuff. He rapidly declined. He was beat beyond help after trying to steal some goods to hawk. This seems to be a common story for those who get addicted."

The others all shake their head. The consensus is that the drug seems to have infiltrated almost all circles in the city. Poor, rich, gifted, or mundane, noone seems to be immune.

"Who benefits from the users' habits?"

"Could you say if there is something common to the people who doesn't use the drug? For example is there a race that almost everyone don't use it?" Senllip adds to GeeGee's query.

[Nocturno]

Kevword chimes in. "It seems to be spread across any race, and gender. It's like someone tries it out of curiosity, but they get addicted on that first try."

No one here seems to understand if anyone could benefit from the crime rate increasing.

"Has anyone tried to follow where it comes from? That is to say, its supply route?"
"Or where the money goes to?"

"Has anyone started working on a counter measure to help the people? Do you know if there is a sample of the drug that can be checked in a laboratory? Is magic involved in the process or the addiction and effect are purely natural?"

GG nods, "Hadn't thought of that. Clever of you!"

Flatbelly gives a shy little smile acknowledging the compliment. "If we can have a sample, will you join me analyze it? It would be fascinating." he asks GeeGee quietly.

"I'd be happy to try and help, but I haven't done that sort of thing before," replies GG. "It's always good to learn new stuff though."
