With a shrug Jerry takes the stones and pockets them, thinking, "That'll help towards making new spell books. Mine can't be the only one that's nearly full!"

Does she recognize the stones? Maybe Moonstones?

Jerry pockets the clear gems [she doesn't recognize them, but she really only had time for a cursory glance so far]

Pyros opens another jar, pouring the contents out. A full dozen blood-red stones tumble onto the hard baked ground like dazzling crimson ovoids the size of hen's eggs... they refract the flickering torchlight like the eyes of some menacing creature... [3/8 open now]

Adrestia and Artani turn their attention immediately to the top of the stairs. What kind of trouble. Artanis queries quietly.

Jerry eyes the red gems as a 'spellbook-in-waiting' but does feel a self concious as she grabs a handful before they disappear into the pile of stuff being assembled by Pyros.
"For the spellbook fund.."she adds lamely.

Mira sighs, "Jerry, we spilt the gems fairly, Pyros, stop making a mess, scoop up that lot and lets get out of here, those creatures didnt exactly look friendly. And I bet THATS why he wants us to fly." Slipping a few red stones into her pouch she moves to the way out. "Elsa, Adri, Pytor with me, the rest of you tidy that mess and lets get out of here." and with that she rises up drawing her crossbow again.

Adrestia levels her Ranseur up the stairs, attention locked on the opening. Artanis smoothly draws his twin longswords, the barest sideways glance at the fighter beside him.

Two Legs! They come! Blood on their breath! Death in their eyes!

Mira calls to the others to form up, hefting her crossbow. Pyros plunders the pots, discovering vessel after vessel full of precious coins of all kinds! [except steel]

Goblyns!!! Adrestia shouts in alarm.

A pair of hunched, hideous creatures with craggly greenish-brown hide crouch at the head of the stairs. Hateful red eyes shimmer with an almost otherworldly light from sunken sockets. Mis-shapen, bloated heads swivel back and forth at the members of the group like the hungry predatory gaze of some stalking carnivore. Pointed ears scarred and torn from countless fights thrust up amid long, mangy hair sprouting only on the back of their head and necks. The pair let out an inhuman SHRIEEEEEK!!! that rises to a pitch resonant of a stilletto on slate! Several more shrill calls echo out farther up the stairs

Whatever you do, don't let them get hold of your neck!! Adrestia screams urgently over the insane din before the creatures surge forth with unequivocal savagery!

[The remaining 5 jars contained Platinum, Gold, Electrum, Silver and Copper pieces, dozens to hundreds of each!]

Adrestia sees the Goblyns and calls out! Neither group is surprised!

Pyros will scoop up a hand full of gems if available and start using his Hoopak

And then retreat! to the other side of the room, backwardly, never turning his back.

What the Hells are those things?! Merrick cries out, firing a blast of greenish magic at the lead creature. A loud hiss and the acrid stench of melting flesh elicit an inhuman cry of rage and pain from the hiddeous thing! With an evil hiss of its own, the Goblyn sprints down and dives off the side of the stairwell! Nimbly it crashes full-force into Pytor! With a wicked slash it flails at the fighter but in bloodlust and over-eagerness it fumbles to the ground!

The second creature charges recklessly down the stairs towards Adrestia, slashing savagely at her neck! The warrior's polearm clips it sharply in the side, tearing a wide gash in its thick hide! Casting the shaft of her Spetum down, the dusky hued fighter draws her rapier. Cross presses his way forward and fans his fingers out before him. Urgently uttering his spell, gouts of searing flames spray out over the pair of Goblyns, engulfing them! The scent of burning flesh fills the room quickly as the enemies thrash and scream in agony.

To the rear of the group, Adran points a single finger at the prone Goblyn and a pair of magical bolts snap into it with brilliant force; killing Pytor's would be assailant. The half-gypsy man hefts his warhammer and moves to the aid of his sister; striking at her attacker from behind. Unfortunately the press of bodies and the position of the stairs prevent the powerful fighter from landing his attack.

Bloodthirsty screams issue out from the stairwell and two more of the misshappen monsters barrel down into the chamber! The first rushes to attack the hammer-weilding human, slashing maniacally at his throat with sharply clawed hands! The warrior's armor prevents the bulk of the damage, but the creature's body seems all muscle and sinew as its incredibly powerful grip begins to crush into Pytor's neck! Artanis slashes at the Goblyns with his twin longswords, but the agile monstrosities prove evasive.

The last to appear hurls itself off the staircase a good 15 feet above the floor in an insane feat of savage aggression, landing on all fours with a dull crunch yet still barreling forward like some slavering hound! Two gnarled, clawed hands seize the Kender's throat in a vice-like grip; filthy nails raking deep gouges in the small demihuman's neck! Cruelly it lifts the rogue free of the ground, squeezing with all of its considerable might as it begins to strangle the dangling Pyros! Unable to fire his stones, the kender weakly swings his Hoopak; but to no avail. Mira and Jerry fire their weapons at the bestial figure throttling their ally, but the shots fall shy of the monstrous mark.


The pounding of his pulse begins to beat loudly like the strokes of a drum in his ears, nearly drowning out the fervent casting of the Halfling cleric behind. Elsa's voice rises as she completes her prayer, ... to protect us and guide our hands in ridding this evil from the world. Yondalla we call on you!!! A brilliant flash of white fills the room for an instant and is just as quickly gone; leaving a faint golden glow around the party and causing the monstrous humanoids to blink from the sudden illumination.

Screams of sadistic glee ring out from the stairwell above, threatening to bring still more of the ravenous abominations!

[Pytor and Pyros' necks have been firmly grabbed by Goblyn and they are being Choked! Save vs Spell pls!]
[Elsa's Prayer spell gives all party members +1 to hit and damage and all the Goblyns presently in the room -1 to hit and damage!]

If the foul creatureattacking Pyros is still a thing when Jerry springs into action, she will heft her mace and try to whack it.

[Those grappled can croak out a couple words, but only with great effort while it is choking them. They can attempt to pry the claws loose, but it's a bend bars roll. The best way is to somehow paralyze or kill the thing.
-3 to hit, damage and saves (except the choking save) when being choked, but others get +2 to hit and damage a creature choking someone else]
