Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?

Sue finds the duty Magister at South Gate and the company is duly registered. It is explained, again, that members of a Waterdavian Adventuring Company have certain privileges and obligations:

• Peace-knots are no longer necessary within the city limits.
  Weapons of war may be carried within city limits but crossbows may not be pre-loaded.
  Some leeway is given for Plaint (City Law) minor infringements and tax arrangements are more favourable than for unregistered adventurers.
  A Company is expected to police its own members.
  Collectively Companies are expected to police any Company conspicuously or repeatedly failing to do so itself.
  In the event of war all Companies are on call to support the city.

Sue returns and hands out the thin blue leather armbands that declare the wearer is a member of a registered Adventuring Company. He knows that if challenged by the City Watch, the wearer should be prepared to be detained (on the spot) while a patrol member seeks verification. Fraudulent wearers could expect to be fined and imprisoned.

Are the party are ready to head off to the Yawning Portal to try and improve their finances?

Alecia adjusts the mace at her belt one last time, each time she felt something was missing she had to remind herself that the peace knot was missing... Keeping the thin armband around her wrist she wraps the other around Nix, each step allows the crossow to bang lightly against her back.

"So." The pretty cleric asks as she turns herself to face the Portal, she knew where it was everyone did. But did she want to find it? "If we are going to go down there I guess we should figure what we can do. Sue fights, I heal.." among other things she almost adds. "Nix has magic." She turns to this 'Jim' character and the Sylvan with interest. She and Nix could scout.. if it came to it, forgotten skills could be remembered.

Jim says simply, "I am as him," and chin points towards Sue.

[Nocturno]

"Woody is an ace with the Arcane stuff." he will gruffly pat his Wizard friend on the back.

"We have been through thick and thin."

[counterkid]

Woody, with a shy look on his face nodes in agreement with Sue.

Sue leads the newly formed 'Transitory Band of Wayward Acquaintances' company north through Trades Ward and then NW into Castle Ward to where its southern edge meets Dock Ward. There sits a dingy looking three story stone building with a slate roof. A signboard hanging on chains from a black iron pole above the front door, announces the entry to the inn "The Yawning Portal".

nix considers the newcome magic user with som intrest

Looking at the door in front of them, Jim nods to himself and unwinds the peace knot from his mace and reties it on his brow to keep his hair from his eyes. Ignoring the people around him, he undoes his shirt exposing a thin but corded frame wrapped in rope with lengths of metal. He proceeds to unwrap the rope, refasten his shirt and loop the rope over his shoulder bandolier style with metal darts hanging off it.
Using his heel as a pivot he smoothly turns to face the magic user "Well met Goodsir Woody" accompanied with a small stiff bow. Continuing the pivot to face the majority of the party he calmly announces "I am now ready"

The bells throughout Waterdeep peal twice.

"This reminds me of that time you got that tip that your Father was in that catacomb under that Lovitar shrine... we knew it would hurt, but they were so good at it... you had to admire them." With his friend around Sue seems to be coming out of his shell.

He will swing the door open and enter.

Sue enters a comfortable looking common room with bar and tables of stout wood and rich blue tapestries decorate the wood-paneled walls all of which is secondary to a 40' diameter well in the middle of the room.

The room is fairly bustling but still with empty tables. Ladies wait the tables and staff the bar.

A female human, 20-something, nods to Sue as she delivers three trays of food to a table of boisterous patrons and is then gone.

Making sure everyone is following Sue will select a table, and motion for the server.

He will also glance around to see if he can spot Daisy.

Nix takes up the rear with Alecia if she followa/allows

Sue's glance does not reveal anyone he knows as Daisy.
