Ruehar recalls that Cheff said, "Wait for my signal. I will call out 'Now!' Clear enough?"
He realises that he's not going to see any more detail until either the procession on the coastal road gets closer giving a better angle of vision or else he moves(including standing up) possibly giving up the possibility of ambush.

======
No, the Hon die just applies to level up stuff (skill and stat improvement rolls.)
However, being in GH gives a 1 bonus to all dice rolls after all other mods. Is Ruehar in GH?
There is an additional option to burn honour, (effectively a sacrifice to influence fate), but I think you understand that, correct?
Nope, need to fail by less than that.

Before the group on the road can advance, Cheff staggers out from behind the bush, rocking from side to side and clutching a bottle. He takes a swig from the bottle. He looks the worse for wear. One of the men advances and calls out, “Get off the road, you drunken sot!” Cheff responds by nearly falling over. The man watches, hands on hips, when Cheff flicks them a finger hurls his bottle, hitting the man squarely in the chest [3dam] as it shatters. He swears.
No movement from Polly. Is Ruehar also holding action?

Round 2
There’s a pause and some low pitched exchanges that Ruehar doesn’t quite hear. The three others join the lead fellow, pulling out a set of manacles as they advance. The slaves and their attendant guards hold position.
Cheff backs up a bit while reaching behind his back and throws a second bottle, hitting a hobgoblin in the center of the group [3dam] as the four close to within 30’ of Cheff.

Round 3
All four stride towards Cheff intend on his demise. They’re taken aback [surprised] when they encounter the caltrops the cleric had seeded on the ground [1d6-2+GH dam each, ½Mv]. The Thorian, with no sign of drunkenness now, takes advantage of the confusion to throw a third grenade-like weapon, this time hitting the lead hobgoblin and envelopes the four slavers in a sheet of flame [Greek fire] which ignites the alcohol and oil. One man [M2] drops to the ground writhing in pain (and will end his life on the caltrops before he recovers, while a second [M1] still stands but still aflame. A hobgoblin [H1] drops to the ground in pain, ending his life instantly on the caltops, but continues to burn, while the rmaining hobgoblin [H2] stand relatively unscathed. Cheff calmly equips his shield. Polly and Ruehar hold action.
======
M1 takes 11 HP burning dam (of which 2HP to leather armour) & succeeds on his Threshold of Pain check
M2 takes 9 HP burning dam (of which 2HP to leather armour) & fails his Threshold of Pain check
H1 takes 19HP burning dam (of which 3HP to studded leather armour) & fails his Threshold of Pain check
H2 takes 7HP burning dam (of which 2HP to studded leather armour)

Round 4
The surviving vanguard hobgoblin [H2] calls out, “You’ll pay, Bastard! Help, here, now!”
The slaves advance slowly while the accompanying guards mill around a little trying to organise themselves.
While Cheff and the hobgoblin (in studded leather) meet to trade blows, a heavily laden cart propelled by straining slaves comes into view accompanied by another couple of men, some hobgoblins (or half-), two of which with wicked looking dogs. To complete the overkill, there is a half-hobgoblin (more heavily armed & armoured) on horseback.
Cheff’s immediate foe misses with a short sword thrust and accidentally throws his whip back over his shoulder. He’s clearly outclassed by the cleric of Thor who deals a wicked blow with his Har’Limel [8dam] and then follows with a shield bash, just connecting [5dam], dropping the foe who writhes around in pain {until round 15}. Polly and Ruehar hold action.

Round 5
Lead by two leather clad, club-clutching human guards, half a dozen hobgoblins in studded leathers, two with attack dogs advance. Meanwhile the mounted figure in brigandine throws a javelin which deflects harmlessly off Cheff’s shield. The horse advances and the charges Cheff, the rider equipping another javelin and lowering it to use as a lance. The second before impact, Cheff shouts at the top of his considerable lungs, “Now!”
From the back of the slaver’s procession there a shout of “That something in the bushes?” but it’s too late.

Surprise check, please.
(Elven surprise & Establish Ambush Zone skill are modifiers to the slavers’ roll, -6.)
What are Ruehar’s intentions/Targets for the possible surprise round?
Ruehar has his bow ready and arrow nocked.
Firing at the mounted rider could hit Cheff.
