Out of Character discussion

The 2E AD&D Homebrew Sandbox world of Genwald is large, ancient, and magical. There are many undiscovered/untamed places. The Sun Kingdom (European style, Late Medieval Human NG Monarchy) is the basic Campaign area, but PCs can end up anywhere.

The scars of ancient battles of titanic proportions mark the land. Wild magic zones, fantastical terrain, grand adventure, political strife, and even artifacts of wonder await. Choose your part and come make your mark on the world. A wide array of unconventional races and classes are available.

Linar will help but has no cxcollective plan. Although he has things he can do on his own if others decide to take a sustained rest (holiday).

Nocturno wrote:Can we get a quick recap of the last couple days?

I know Jordek and Nocturno returned from the fort, we now have slain the beast, and rescued the elf friend.

Did we have a plan of where to head next in the Goblin problem.

Do we still have the piece of the contraption we found in the goblin cave?
So Last few days:

Noct and Jordek escorted freed captives to bordertown, where they gained access to a magic shop and got a leads on matls they could use as credit (shrieker mushroom, troll blood, gargoyle horns, basilisk scales) also found a den of some kind under the bridge. Noct also bought a donkey

Katten traveled to meet the Waya, perhaps the oldest living wild-elf in the entire Fenris forest (He refered to the 400 yr old Left and Right hand leaders of the wild elven nation as 'the young ones') She learned some info about things needed to complete the item: The golden star, and the 'formless one', a creature he had seen once when he was young and claimed may dwell in the swamp West of the Yew river. She met Dran's family/pack as well and he grew while in the magic glade. The Waya hinted that Dran might be special

Linar ventured to the underdark and discovered the 'lost' Dwarven city-state of Dorinkak, as well as an ancient shrine of the Kuo-Toa (unseen for abt 300 years in this area of the underdark). There was also a locked area in Dorinkak he could not access, but he found some clues and defeated a Cave Fisher single-handedly. He also met a skittish Female Svirfneblin miner (exceedingly rare) named Ivrellia Gemcutter

Bullovk traveled nearly the entire length of the country by river from the mountain range of Khaleb's fist to come here to find and avenge himself upon the person or creature that slaid his mentor. His only clue is the pattern of plaid cloth that some Sundered Dwarves mentioned might be in the records at 'The Great Lost Dwarven City' Signa met him as he crossed the great pit and mentiond one Linar may know of such things underground

Findalsip traveled from his secret home, through other gnomish communities in search and study of the area near the great pit. Strange goings on and looming visions have implied impending disasyer and he comes to see what threats may manifest and to protect his peoples.

Then everyone came together, defeated the Basilisk and rescued Dillosel. There is a fair bit of loot, and some interesting items.

As for next steps and overall plot:
The party has a map revealing the location of the Wetrock Goblin Tribe's main hold (not far from here). They know it contains more goblins, possibly other humanoids, and reportedly Dozens of Worgs.. a formidable force to be sure. Notes and messages captured at the Wetrock Goblin's lesser bases imply the goblins are searching for parts of the item (Chief in main hold has 1, party has 1 captured from outpost). The goblins worship Ossunin, and carve his symbol on their sacrificial parephrenalia.

The party now also has the travel journal, which describes most of the parts in detail and how they go together but it still needs a 'power source' (the golden light?), a conduit (the shapeless one?) and the activation ritual. That said, the power is designed to drive the evil out, but where to use it?

The party has several options at this point:
-Bordertown, to resupply, regroup and prepare for next
-Misan/ Lesoger, etc to research, report progress, supply etc
-Investigate Dorinkak
-Head to the Wetrocks final hold
-Monster hunting (the burrow under bridge? gargoyle, others?)
-Other options you want to try out

@Tristan:
What's the travel time to Bordertown?
Who (or what) are Misan/ Lesoger? And what's the likely travel time?
How much of our carrying capacity (without being encumbered) is left over after taking the various basilisk parts?

***

@PCs:
My thouhts are the lost city isn't going anywhere and can wait while longer.
The Wetrock Goblins are a present threat but maybe a bit to tough to handle at the moment; we need to improve ourselves (read: 'gain more experience'.)
So putting those together, if carrying capacity sucffices, we monster hunt, harvest, go Borertown to sell up and restock then reassess.
(Reassess = figure out if we feel tough enough to take down the Wetrock goblin horde, (possibly not) so then go for the old dwarven city.)
Somewhere along the line fit in whatever Misan/ Lesoger are (time depending on what/where).

That's my 5 copper pieces worth.

Bordertown is about 2 days walk from here, 1-way. Pop 7,380

Misan is Nocturno's home, a High-Elven village in the trees north of the great pit. About 1 to 1-1/2 days from this spot. Pop around 850

Lesoger is Jordek's home, a larger High-Elven communty that also houses forest gnomes (the only known city to do so), some halflings and even human druids and rangers base themselves in the nearby area. Vanidur and Garroth were from here also i think. Pop 8,397 (incl camps in the area
Jordek has not returned there in some 50 years, but it is a proper-town. This one is actually large enough to be marked on the map linked in the "Closeup of the Southern campaign area" map in the General knowledge thread. It is about 2-1/2 days. For most travel would be fastest by road south then east and to turn north when directly south of it. Since the party has a ranger with them (Katten) it would be just as fast through the woods as she could guide them. There might be more encounters though.

With Nocturno's mule, the party could travel basically unencumbered depending on how much they wanted to let the beast of burden carry.

There have also reportedly (by the wild elves) been Worg patrols at night in this area searching for the group responsible for decimating their other lairs. The party could attempt to take on such patrols if desired, it would be a far less dangerous way of both whittling down goblin forces and getting a sense of how tough of a nut the main goblin hold will be to crack

Sorry I have been far less active on most sites of late, add being ill on top of training two new apprentices and I really haven't had much time.

I'll get back to normal today and we'll get moving.

I'm currently looking at Loch Ness, went to Urquhart Castle (home to an ancestor of a former member of this site) and in a few days I'll be crusing around looking for Nessie!

Might there be a map to show the party’s location(s) as well as the worgs? Additionally, keep in mind there are sleep caltrops in front of Fin. If is is closer to Bullock worgs might have stumbled upon them.

Let's his giant sword fall to the ground and throws in rapid pace three darts from his left thigh sheath at the goblin in front of him
So W1 and g1 are in melee range with Bullock and the darts cannot be used at that range. He could step back a few feet to throw the first dart, but this would provoke a free attack from both W1 and g1. additionally, if they or anything else got into melee range before the end of the round (such as w1 following after he moves) he woukkd lose the othr 2 dart attacks for the same reason
