Grubnick moves past Raena (Grubnick never met her, correct?) and sidles up to Delarn. It's me, your pupil. Get ready to run! he whispers quietly to the dwarf. He takes the trapped oil flask and throws it down onto the cobbles at Burzan's feet, using his own body to shield Delarn from the blast and trusting his god's gift of fire protection to keep it from burning himself to a cinder.

Weeks ago Yvette and Xleena had stolen from Haahqae. Today they weren't exactly sitting on as large a pile of steel as they were back then, but any amount of reclaimed wealth was a good thing, and, for all Haahqae knew, one of them was carrying the key. And it wasn't like Xleena cound defend herself against him, some sort of magic has left her paralyzed for the time being. Almost as good as her being distracted by a horde of oncoming cultists.

(Haahqae will pick Xleena's pocket; does he get a large bonus because she can't move? seems like that would make sense. After he picks pockets, Haahqae will move 3 squares diagonally south-east)

Haahqae and Gobax (River Way)
The wounded baaz continues shouting for reinforcements. The sound of stomping feet can be heard coming from both sides of the street. They should arrive in a few minutes.

More Baaz attack Gobax, but miraculously he manages to avoid every strike. He manages to reach Delharn and whispers to him. "Is that you, lad?" the dwarf asks.

While this goes on, Haahqae tries to pick Xyleena's pocket without her noticing, but fails. He moves off a bit, which saves him from what is about to happen.

Gobax hurls the flask of oil at Burzan's feet. He misses, and the flask actually hits a bit south of the half-ogre. However, the explosion from the Fire Trap still is triggered, and the blast hits Burzan, Xyleena and Gobax, who shields Delharn with his own body. The oil within the flask also ignites, and splashes a bit on the three--but Gobax suffers no damage from that.

The half-ogre, outraged, swings and hits Gobax with his fist. Because the goblin was shielding Delharn's body with his own, he isn't able to avoid it. It feels like being hit with a maul.

===========

Initiative
Haahqae (1d10+3): 10+2 = 12
Gobax (1d10+3): 8+5 = 13
Baaz (1d10+5): 5+5 = 10
Burzan (1d10+6): 9+6 = 15

Round 3!

Baaz 04 continues calling for reinforcements.
Baaz 05 swings his long sword at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 13, miss.
Baaz 06 swings his long sword at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 12, miss.
Baaz 07 moves 20 feet east and swings his long sword at Gobax while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 16] (1d20-1): 8-1 = 7, miss.
Baaz 08 moves 15 feet east and swings his long sword at Gobax while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 16] (1d20-1): 5-1 = 4, miss.
Baaz 09 moves 10 feet south and 15 feet east (25 feet total) and swings his long sword at Gobax while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 16] (1d20-1): 13-1 = 12, miss.
Baaz 10 holds his ground.
Baaz 11 holds his ground.
Haahqae attempts to pick Xyleena's pocket [TN 25%] (1d100): 59, fail. He then moves 15 feet southeast (off map).
Gobax moves 5 feet northwest and 5 feet west.
----Baaz 05 gets a free attack [TN 16] (1d20): 11, miss.
----Baaz 06 gets a free attack [TN 16] (1d20): 5, miss.
----Baaz 07 gets a free attack [TN 16] (1d20-1): 5-1 = 4, miss.
----Baaz 08 gets a free attack [TN 16] (1d20-1): 14-1 = 13, miss.
----Baaz 09 gets a free attack [TN 16] (1d20-1): 6-1 = 5, miss.
Gobax throws the flask of oil at Burzan with excellent aim (+2 hit) in sunlight (-1 hit) while Burzan is afraid (+1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20+2): 6+2 = 8, miss. It lands (1d10): 1, south of Burzan by (1d6): 6 feet. The flask hits the ground and breaks, triggering the Fire Trap. The Fire Trap deals (1d4+5): 3+5 = 8 damage to Burzan, Xyleena, and himself. The burning oil splashes Burzan and Xyleena (Gobax is immune) for (1d3): 3 splash damage.
----Burzan saves vs. spell while scared (-1) [TN 16] (1d20-1): 14-1 = 13, fail. He takes 8+3 = 11 damage. Burzan is now moderately wounded.
----Xyleena is held and automatically fails her saving throw. She takes 8+3 = 11 damage. She is now near death.
----Gobax is shielding Delharn's body and automatically fails his saving throw. He takes half damage from magical fire. He takes 4 damage. He is now lightly wounded.
Burzan swings his fist at Gobax with great strength (+3 damage) while scared (-1 damage), dealing (1d2+2): 2+2 = 4 damage. Gobax is now moderately wounded.

(OOC: I decided that shielding Delharn's body means Delharn takes no damage, but Gobax automatically fails his saving throw as a result and Burzan automatically wins his attack roll. Kind of lucky, had Haahqae not won initiative there, he would have been hit by the blast and the splash damage. Actions for Round 4?)

Kendra Greylock (2527 Market Street, Greylock's Gorgeous Gems)
"Well, perhaps it all worked out for the best," Sadron says sadly. "If we had stayed together, we both would have been arrested and executed when the occupation took over. Me for being an elf, and you for being married to one."

Ne-Chanz and Shima (Central Haven Sewers)
Shima's pride is short-lived, as the skeleton counters by stabbing him in the stomach with its spear. The dwarf goes down, losing consciousness. Ne-Chanz quickly strikes the last skeleton one more time, shattering it into several parts.

Initiative
Ne-Chanz (1d10+5): 8+5 = 13
Shima (1d10+5): 9+5 = 14
Skeleton 04 (1d10+6): 6+6 = 12

Round 7!

Skeleton 04 stabs at Shima with its spear against his leather armor (+2 hit) [TN 14] (1d20+2): 13+2 = 15, hit for (1d6): 6 damage. Shima falls.
Ne-Chanz swings his long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Skeleton 04 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 13+1 = 14, hit for (1d8+2): 5+2 = 7/2 = 3 damage. Skeleton 04 is destroyed.
Shima is unconscious.

Well that goblin's plan seems to be as hair-brained as the creature is ugly. Sure, it is impressive how much destruction Gobax has been able to wreak single-handed on a dozen baaz soldiers and four of the most despicable persons in the city, but he hasn't managed to knock any of them out and there are more on the way. Pretty much the only way he could possibly hope to get out of here is if the prisoner was invisible. Still... He's shown that he can cast magic AND that he has potions available to him, if only he had made those known to Haahqae and had used them for something more useful then freeing some innocent dwarf from this fate Ismene might have a chance at being freed.

But, as it is, pretty much the only way the goblin or the dwarf has of escaping relies on being able to flee and not have the soldiers find them. The goblin might be able to shake off persuers and hide himself, but the dwarf would have some trouble with this if he's visible. Now would be a good time for Gobax to display some magic he never knew he could cast and turn the dwarf invisible.

And... By having a suspect vanish into thin air in the middle of a group of soldiers is sure to raise some alerts. Perhaps the army will finally realize that Ismene wasn't the perpetrator of the theft and release her. Surely someone in the army must have a brain and realize that she didn't do it.

(Haahqae moves to beside Rena and force feeds a dose of his invisibility potion to the dwarf)

[Ooc: sorry for the delay. I thought I had posted already]

Yes, it's me. He says to Delarn. Let's get out of here quick! he says, directing Delarn northeast then north around the building as he dodges and rolls to avoid being struck again himself.

===
Ideally Grubnick will direct Delarn NE 2 squares then N as far as they can go. If they reach the tiny building at the north this round he'll want to go ne around it.

Grubnick's will be tumbling as he moves but trying to stay near Delarn.

Where is the Belzorite hideout on the map again? Sorry, I keep forgetting.

Haahqae and Gobax (River Way)
Gobax easily tumbles away, into the woods above. He finds the terrain there difficult to traverse, and this slows him down a bit. However, the two baaz that give chase have a far easier time, thanks to their longer legs. They reach him and attack, but he's easily able to avoid the blows. Another baaz circles the building to cut him off, but he's able to avoid that attack, as well.

"Do not let the dwarf heretic escape!" Burzan warns, swinging at Delharn. Several of the nearby baaz attack, too, but Delharn is lucky enough to avoid getting more than a slight cut. "Wait up, lad! I can't somersault around like that, you know!" Haahqae sneaks up on him and jumps the dwarf, forcing some of his potion into Delharn's mouth. The dwarf coughs and sputters before turning invisible. "What the? They've got phantoms poisoning me, lad!" he cries. He swings at his invisible assailant, missing completely. However, this attack negates the potion and he turns visible again, never realizing what even happened. Delharn starts to withdraw toward the forest slowly, not wanting to turn his back on the enemy but not nimble enough to tumble away like his apprentice.

===========

Initiative
Haahqae (1d10+4): 8+4 = 12
Gobax (1d10+3): 2+3 = 5
Delharn (1d10+3): 10+3 = 13
Baaz (1d10+5): 4+5 = 9
Burzan (1d10+6): 1+6 = 7

Round 4!

Gobax tumbles 10 feet northeast, then 20 feet north (movement rate is halved in the trees).
Burzan swings his fist at Delharn, a dwarf (-2 hit) with amazing strength (+2 hit/+3 dmg) while scared (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 8] (1d20-1): 6-1, miss.
Baaz 04 continues calling for reinforcements.
Baaz 05 moves 30 feet north (movement rate is halved in the trees) and swings his long sword at Gobax who is tumbling (-4 hit) [TN 16] (1d20-4): 9-4 = 5, miss.
Baaz 06 moves 35 feet north (movement rate is halved in the trees) and swings his long sword at Gobax who is tumbling (-4 hit) [TN 16] (1d20): 13-4 = 9, miss.
Baaz 07 moves 15 feet north and 5 feet west and swings his long sword at Delharn while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 9] (1d20-1): 3-1 = 2, miss.
Baaz 08 swings his long sword at Delharn while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 9] (1d20-1): 4-1 = 2, miss.
Baaz 09 moves 10 feet west and 5 feet north and swings his long sword at Delharn while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 9] (1d20-1): 19-1 = 18, hit for (1d8-1): 1 damage.
Baaz 10 moves 5 feet northwest, 25 feet north and 20 feet east and swings his long sword at Gobax who is tumbling (-4 hit) [TN 16] (1d20-4): 16-4 = 12, miss.
Baaz 11 moves 5 feet south and swings his long sword at Delharn while afraid (-1 hit/dmg) [TN 9] (1d20-1): 2-1 = 1, miss.
Haahqae moves 15 feet northwest (returning to the map), 5 feet north and 5 feet northeast. He attempts to force-feed Delharn a dose of his Potion of Invisibility.
-----Delharn saves vs. spell [TN 14] (1d20): 5, fail. He becomes invisible.
Delharn swings at Haahqae who is invisible (-4 hit) [TN 13] (1d20-4): 8-4 = 4, miss. Delharn is no longer invisible. He withdraws 10 feet northwest.

(OOC: The Belzorite hideout is the blue circle on this map. So about a mile down River Way. Actions for Round 5?)

Kendra Greylock (2527 Market Street, Greylock's Gorgeous Gems)
Sadron smiles warmly at Kendra. "Well, I suppose there's no point in thinking about 'what ifs.' We're here now, and that's something, at least. It's more than I would have ever believed was possible."

Ne-Chanz and Shima (Central Haven Sewers)
Checking, Ne-Chanz finds that Shima is still alive, but only just barely. He does his best to staunch the bleeding and manages to stabilize the dwarf. However, Shima remains unconscious.

Well the dwarf is a moron and the goblin seems content to leave him to his fate so... Haahqae pretty much chocks this encounter up to being a failure, but one that he can recover from if he plots well. What he needs to do is cut his losses now and resort to plan B.

Backing off from the quickly-becoming-clouded area Haahqae casts a minor illusion on Reana to make it appear as if she was enjoying the events going on far more then she should be. Perhaps the stupid Baaz might figure out that this whole attack was her plot to free the prisoner. Probably not; no matter how hard he tries, the stupidity of Baaz goes beyond comprehension.

(Haahqae backs off to the 10 ft east and 5 ft south and casts an illusion cantrip to make it appear like Reana is enjoying the attack in a "everything is going according to plan" sort of way)
