Gallath whispers to Brock. "She was near the captain. Wasn't time." He looks around for her now. If she's alone, he advances to her. If not, he tries to catch her eye.

Ouragana Stormbride (Merchant Ship, Lower deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Ouragana recovers her things while the battle rages on. One of the marines is cut down with a cry, leaving three left to defend her and the woman who watches with horror at the violent pirates bursting into the room.

Baeros and Gallath (Merchant Ship, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
"Best take care of it now," Brock says to him quietly. "The pastor wanted us to do this without bloodshed. But now we've helped pirates kill innocents instead. The longer you wait, the more innocents will be killed. We could have saved a lot of lives already if you had acted sooner."

Gallath manages to catch Sable's eye, and she mutters some excuse to Scourge to step away. Approaching, she whispers, "Did you find something?"

Val and Naras (Unnamed Island/Sardonx 25th, 6:00 AM)
After six hours of rest, Naras wakes up and does some mild healing of herself and Val while she waits for the half-orc to answer her question.

========

Naras casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Val, restoring (1d10+1): 4+1 = 5 HP.
Naras casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Val, restoring (1d10+1): 8+1 = 9 HP.
Naras casts Cure Moderate Wounds on herself, restoring (1d10+1): 1+1 = 2 HP.

Naras casts some more spells, Cure Moderate wounds on Val and a Cure Light Wounds on herself.
"So, what's the plan for today? Think the creature might be good if we cook some of it? Or maybe it ate something valuable? Or do you want to explore a bit?"

"Snake ain't bad, and it's kinda like a snake, It can't hurt to try some, and besides, we should cut it open. Might as well do it." Val moves to the creature and finds a spot in the belly to cut into. Rolling out the stomach and intestines, she begins to feel around for anything hard.

Ouragana just stands there as if paralysed, wishing she could vanish into thin air.

Naras nods, "It would be something different. I think we could stand something with a different taste. I'll see if I can find anything herb-wise that might go with it."
The dwarf has a root around.

Ouragana Stormbride (Merchant Ship, Lower deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
The battle rages on. Every time the marines cut down a pirate, however, two more replace them. The marines don't have any backup and another one gets killed. With only two remaining, they start backing toward the women, trying to give themselves some space. The admiral's daughter clutches her pistol with white hands, her eyes as wide as saucer plates.

Baeros and Gallath (Merchant Ship, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
"I hope the pastor is okay," Brock mutters. "If this whole thing goes south, it's going to be hard to get her out of there and escape."

Val and Naras (Unnamed Island/Sardonx 25th, 6:00 AM)
Naras applies more healing to Val and herself.

Val then cuts open the monster's stomach and rummages around. She finds several bones and skulls, and other disgusting things. But that's it. She now reeks of monster guts.

While she is doing that, Naras enters the jungle alone and starts searching for any herbs or roots. She finds a few curatives, toxins and seasonings after awhile.

=========

Naras casts Cure Moderate Wounds on Val, restoring (1d10+1): 2+1 = 3 HP. She is now moderately wounded.
Naras casts Cure Light Wounds on herself, restoring (1d8): 5 HP. She is now moderately wounded.
Naras makes an herbalism check [TN 14] (1d20): 6, pass.

Gallath hands the journal to her if possible without showing it. "He did it. It's all in there. We marked the page."

Baeros and Gallath (Merchant Ship, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 9:00 AM)
Taking the journal, Sable turns so that her back is to the captain. She opens the book to the marked page and starts reading quickly. Reaching the relevant part, her eyes light up. "This is it. This is what we need. Quick, does anyone have any rope?"

Val and Naras (Unnamed Island/Sardonx 25th, 6:00 AM)
The salt water burns the few wounds Val still has left, and makes her smell even brinier than before. But it does wash away the blood and guts. Naras, meanwhile, gathers up some dried wood in the jungle and brings it back to camp to make a fire.

Putting together a fire pile, Naras attempts to get the fire going.
If she has difficulties, she asks Val, "Can you have a go? I don't seem to be getting very far."

When the fire is on the go, the dwarf settles down to separate out the herbs, disguarding the toxic ones and splitting the curatives and seasonings into two piles.
She tucks the curatives aways into one belt pouch, selects an appropriate amount and type of seasoning to try with the meat, putting the balance away into another pouch or pocket and says, "We should rub the meat with this," holing out the selected seasonings. Leaving Val to tend the fire and take care of the roasting, Naras puts up a 'Detect Snares and Pits', rebuking herself for having neglected to do so earlier, and says, "Off for a few more herbs, won't be long," and does one more speedy sweep to try and garner a few more herbs, preferably curatives to potentially help the pair recover a little faster.

As the marines draw back and there is some room between them and the pirates, Ouragana casts a web between them, entrapping the pirates rather than the marines if she has to make a choice. She hopes that she can claim the other woman did it once the pirates get through...

Ouragana Stormbride (Merchant Ship, Lower deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
While there is some room between the pirates and defenders, the web spell requires the webbing to be at least 10 feet thick, which far exceeds the distance between the two sides. When Ouragana conjures up her webbing, it entraps both the pirates and the marines completely. There is much cursing and struggling on both sides, but it has ceased the fighting and bought them some time.

"What's happening?" the woman asks, looking overhead. The sound of fighting on the ship has stopped. The only noise heard are the people struggling in the webbing and the waves against the ship. Other than that, it's very quiet.

==========

Ouragana casts Web in the center of the room for 100 rounds.

Baeros and Gallath (Merchant Ship, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
"He's got some here," Brock offers, removing the rope from the ranger's pack and handing it to the witch.

"Perfect," Sable says. She casts a spell of some kind and the rope suddenly starts to move on its own. It slithers out of her hands, along the deck, and up to Scourge before quickly entwining around him and binding his arms and legs. Giving a yell of surprise, he falls to the ground, struggling.

"What the--Sable, what is this?!" he demands.

Sable approaches Scourge and places a foot on him, like he were a defeated animal she just captured. "Fall back!" she yells. "Everyone fall back! I have proof here that Scourge is the murderer of Beaumont! He has deceived us all!" She waves the journal over her head.

Confused why they are being ordered to fall back when they are winning, many of the pirates start to return. As they listen to Sable read Scourge's confession while he helplessly struggles like a trussed up pig, their faces go from confusion to anger and disappointment. "Scourge's obsession with this woman shows he is unfit to captain this fleet," Sable concludes. "I hereby put it to a vote, on whether he should be retired. What say you, crew? Aye or nay?" she asks.

Val and Naras (Unnamed Island/Sardonx 25th, 6:00 AM)
Naras knows nothing about starting fires, but she has flint and steel, so she gets one going easily enough that way. She returns to the forest, but has already cleared it out of anything useful. There are no more herbs to find in this area.
