CH. 8: Proving Worth

This 2E Dragonlance game is set in the city of Haven, during the War of the Lance. Haven is a city undergoing great upheaval. First massive numbers of refugees pour in, then the city is conquered by a draconic army. Can our heroes survive under this dark occupation?

Not wishing to interfere with Gobax's bluff, Arulia stands by as unobtrusively as she can but listens for the response.

The sergeant looks at the money in Gobax's hand and snorts. "What is that? Is that...supposed to a bribe?" he asks, chuckling. "Six whole steel pieces? Tell you what, sholva, make it sixty and we can talk. Otherwise, get out of here before we arrest you for loitering," he says, using a derogatory goblin term for one who prefers the company of non-goblins over his own people.

Meanwhile, Felran and Ne-Chanz search around the area but don't find any more traces of blood. Evidently she had stopped bleeding at this point. No other clues can be found.

===========

Ne-Chanz makes a tracking attempt [TN 50%] (1d100): 78, fail.

(OOC: Three directions. North, south and east.)

I thought you were trying to avoid the army... it might not be good for you to stand out much... he whispers to Felran.

When Gobax steps back from the guards Tulbas suggests to the group, "They won't help us, and now that we have their full attention, maybe asking other civils around won't be the best idea. We could split and try tracking and asking people once we get some distance from the guards."

(OOC: JadedDM, could you mark our position and the brothel position on the map? Thanks.)

Felran sighs, "We can't avoid them at this time, since they are -right- there. However, if we had a way to get them to tell the truth this would be a lot easier."

Gobax shrugs and puts his money away, It's up to you. It doesn't look like we have any other leads, but you heard what he said about loitering... they're already worked-up he says quietly. To the rest of the group, Do we have enough passes to split up and check the next checkpoints and areas? We'd need somewhere nearby to meet up if anyone finds them too.

Arulia says, "I agree with the goblin. Those guards probably aren't far from using any excuse--not that they even need one--from arresting us all for annoying them. I don't think it's a good idea to keep talking them. If we're going to insist on finding the women tonight, let's try some other way."

"We have three passes." Tulbas says, "Two are fake but proved good enough." he whispers. "Let's split and meet here again in half a bell. I'll go with Haaque and Ismene if they would. You can go with the Ne-Chanz and Ferlan, and Arulia can go with Gregeddin." he tells the goblin.

===============================================================
(OOC: Tulbas tries to split the group so in each sub-group there will be one person who proved dominant in decision making so far, hoping to keep things moving. Obviously he wouldn't say it to anyone.)

An hour has passed as the party stands around discussing what they should do and which direction they should go.

========

It is now Afterwatch (9 PM).

(OOC: The red circle is the party's current location. The blue circle is where the Neo-Belzorite cult hideout is; the brothel is next door to it, if you remember. The purple circle is where the Master cult hideout was. I included it since you were asking about it earlier.

Remember that the map is reversed, so that 'up' is south and 'right' is west and so forth.)

I'm ok with that. How about we take the docks? he says to Felarn and Ne-Chanz.

[Ooc: thanks, I was way off, thinking we were farther to the Left (east?)]

Arulia frowns at Tulbas's pairing of her with Greggedin, but takes a small step towards him anyway. With a dubious look, she says, "Do we just go and bang on the doors or spy through the windows, then?" She sighs impatiently. "Let's go and see what we can see. Then, you can use your permit to take me back to my home. I'm sure my family is sick with worry by now."
