ADnD 2e Adventure - Spoilers abound

Welcome to Ancient Destinies, a setting I created a while ago and well, never finished.

<::No class or level restrictions::>

Now it is finished and I will be giving a simple description of the world in the actual posts.

1. I will be running the game in 2e ADnD style, nothing too different there.

2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be?
Howebrewed, and by the way, it's not a basically generic high fantasty world, it's a special world in it's own right.

3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
I am looking for anywhere from 3 to 10 members, and I would prefer you have only one running character at a time, but if you give a good reason to have alternates, I may allow it.

4. How fast or slow of a pacing do you want to set? Some games require that players post once a day, every three days, or once a week.
The big thing is, I am just getting back into the DM thing, so... It may be a bit slow from me at first, but I'll get back into it and we should have around 1-2 posts a day. Thats for me, now the posts for you guys will be dependent on your speed.

5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
I will be starting at 1

6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
Hmm, I think that I'll have the start off with this basic thing.
Warrior - 5d4 x 10 ep
Wizard - (1d4+1) x 10 ep
Rogue - 2d6 x 10 ep
Priest - 3d6 x 10 ep
(Unnamed Class) - 4d4 x10 ep

You may have noticed that I am using Electrum pieces, and that is correct. There are few ways to get real gold in the sky, so a different currency will be used.
10cp = 1sp, 5sp = 1ep, 10ep = 1pp, and yah that fun stuff.

This also helps tone down the excess of cash, but base costs of items will work the same, just with different conversions.

7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
Heh, this is were my story takes a fun turn :P
I am personally building (and probably having more experienced DMs inspect) one class, it's kind of a staple for the fact that we have more "advanced" technology and more will be released as it gets built.

8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
You can use any basic races without any changes. If you want to play something entirely new, talk to me about it. If you want to run a rarer race, talk to me as well. There will possibly be some homebrewed races I will add before the adventure begins.

Just about anything goes except races that need a constant water supply. If you plan to run something undead, you better remember others' reactions. If you run something that burns in the light, you better have some thick clothes. c:

9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
Method V - (4d6, drop lowest, arrange as desired) - (Rerolls available if you send me your stats and they are absolute trash)
(I'd also prefer that with racial adjustments we stay at 19 or less, and well, try to stay at or above 3 as well.)

10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
No restrictions, but play it like you should. Don't be a CE and just act like the most lawful person ever...

11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
Yes, but I will not take it into the triple class thing...

12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
Invisible Castle your rolls in your posts, if you can't use it, tell me and I'll roll it. (Be warned, I will personally do it so... Yah)
You can roll really anything as long as you give the results.

13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
*Cough* I will provide a description on all optional rules, but they shouldn't be too different than something you would know already.

Do read on the Optional Aerial Combat rules, they may be involved.

14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
I would like a background, but not a book, if it fits TL;DR, then we have a problem.

15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
Lets add one to the list, flight, and say All of the Above

16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
Normal rulebooks apply, if you want non-standard stuff, send me a pdf or something so I can read it over first.

You can use nearly any source as long as I've added it to the list.

Additional information: Prepare to soar the skies and fight in the air and on the decks of these ships.

If you are interested, I'll be revealing the story as the general information gets wrapped up.

Were you thinking of this as a big sandbox or did you have a more linear storyline in mind?

Oh, it's sandbox-like, but that's to get the feels. After about level 2-3, the story will intensify and linear paths will be much more apparent. It will still hold a feel of sandbox however.

You could explore the entire world if you wanted, I have it all mapped out, except a small patch on the wasteland surface...

Seems I have two interested people. It's been a while, but I am still working on it. I'd like to get a third or maybe a fourth person for the kick-off, but that's my preference.

Give it... a week?

Now that the holidays are over and things have calmed down a little, I could join. No idea what to play, though. What are your thoughts on the Aarakocra?

Going to be completely honest here, I had no idea what they were until I checked your handbook again. :)

Sure. If you know how to run one, go for it.

No, you just keep failing your perception check.

Aarakocra
Ability Score Adjustments: +2 DEX, -1 STR and CON

Ability Score Range
Strength (3-16)
Dexterity (8-18)
Constitution (6-16)
Intelligence (3-18)
Wisdom (3-17)
Charisma (3-18)

Level Limits
Fighter 11
Witch Doctor 7
Thief 11

Hit Dice: Normal, by class
Alignment: Any (but tend to be NG)
Natural AC: 7
Languages: Aarakocra, giant eagle, common

Special Advantages: The bird-men have the ability to fly, with a movement speed of 36 and a maneuverability class of C.

Aarakocra talons cause 1d3 points of damage and can strike twice in a round. Their beaks also cause 1d3 damage. They receive no attack penalties for aerial missile fire. When using two javelins, an aarakocra can make a diving attack. They must dive at least 200 feet to use this special attack. The attacks are usually accompanied by a blood-curdling shriek, gain a +4 bonus to hit and cause double damage.

An aarakocra shaman of 7th level can, with four other aarakocra, summon a friendly air elemental in three rounds of chanting and aerial dancing. It will perform favors, although it will not endanger its life for them.

Special Disadvantages: Aarakocra are very claustrophobic. Those who engage in combat in enclosed areas (buildings, dungeons, etc.) receive a -3 penalty to attack rolls.

I intend to run a restriction-less game in terms of classes and stats, so do we even need to apply those?
