(OOC: Hmm, good question. Well, a dagger weighs 1 lb and a spear weighs 5 lbs, so let's say 6 lbs for the two together.)

So, might as well use the spear to try and make a pick, I can probably use the dagger later.

(OOC): Any explanation for what I can do with the iron I try and find, like make steel, some other alloy, or even some sort of material not normally found on its own?

Drav take the spear over to the crude forge he's built over the past 30 years in his cave. He stokes the fire, and begins the process of melting the spear down. It's hard, sweaty work. But eventually, he heats it back up to its liquid state and starts work on forging a metal pick. When it's complete, he picks it up with some tongs and drops it into a bucket of water, which hisses and releases steam everywhere.

Drav forges a pickaxe [11] (1d20): 6, pass.

*Time Check*

Depending on the time, I may go find some iron (Close to noon or earlier), or I may look for other materials nearby(Later in the day).

(OOC): I was very tempted to put in a picture of Link holding up an item and pasting in a pickaxe

With that done, Drav peeks out of his cave to check the sun's position in the sky. It looks to be around noon or so by now.

Pick up the pick, swap to the leather armor(I may need the lighter weight) and swap the net for the grappling hook. Then walk out of the cave and look for a mountain/rocky surface.

(OOC): So, what do I need to make rope, is there a map of my current surroundings, and where can I find some coal also

Drav changes out of his studded leather armor, putting on his leather armor instead. He grabs his new pickaxe and his grappling hook, but leaves his net behind. He steps outside and begins climbing the mountain that his cave is in.

==========

(OOC: Well, you could destroy your net to make rope. Otherwise, you'd need to find some hemp and make rope from that. Coal would need to be mined, like iron ore. Here's a map. The "B" is the beach where you were fishing. The "C" is your cave, at the base of the mountains.)

(OOC): not wrecking my net.

Go out to the forest edge and inspect for hemp. Must have hemp.

(OOC): So, is it a long distance to the mountain peak?

Drav heads out to the forest, keeping an eye out for any trolls or jaguars or anything else of danger. Fortunately, he doesn't find any. After an hour of searching, he finally comes across a nice crop of hemp.

Make as much rope as I can, I may need rope later.

(OOC): I was almost ready to type "Take all the grass er I mean hemp."

Drav spends the next two hours harvesting the hemp then weaving it into a rope. By the end, he has a good twenty-five feet, which weighs 10 pounds altogether.

=========

(OOC: Well...hemp has a variety of uses. :P)

I guess, look for any nearby rocky surfaces that may have materials in them.

Drav coils the rope and hefts it over his shoulder, finding it heavier than he expected. He then treks back to the mountain base and starts looking for a good deposit of iron. Luckily, the island is covered in it. People would have set up mining camps here and mined it dry long ago...if anyone knew where this place was. To be honest, Drav wasn't even sure where this island was. It could well be on the opposite side of the world, or even an entirely different world, for all he knew.

After an hour of searching, he finds a good place to start his work.

==========

Drav is now in moderate encumbrance, due to the rope.

(OOC): Can I get an estimate on distance from the cave?

I guess, start inspecting for bits of iron and try and excavate them. Also, try to look for any other useful ores while doing this.

(OOC): Good thing I dropped the extra 10lbs with my armor switch, otherwise i'd be severely encumbered.
