CH. 12: Wyvern's Island

"I totally agree with you, Jocelyn" Ouragna says and hastily leaves the fireside to crawl into her bedroll.

"So maybe this is the best time to speak our feelings. We might have no other opportunity." Baeros says to Jocelyn holding her gaze for a moment. Immediately regretting his action he returns to the planning. "I've some rope. We will decide how we enter tomorrow. Maybe the love birds back there," he gestures toward the wizards, "will sense something we missed when they are near the mansion."
He takes a look at the dogs to make sure they are fine. Seeing them enjoying the meal and resting near the fire he smiles and then goes to check on Val and Brock. He asks them in low voice, "How are you feeling? Have you been rested enough? Do you want more food?"

"Aye, there's plenty food left should anyone want seconds," Brock comments. "Probably enough for breakfast tomorrow, too. Speaking of which, we setting a watch tonight? Two of us each, for a watch of two hours should do the trick. No need to put the half-orc on watch, let her rest the whole night. What do you think?"

Jocelyn stares at Baeros for a moment as she wasn't expecting such a response from him, and she certainly wasn't expecting the way he held her gaze either. ~I'm reading into things too much,~ she thinks to herself as Baeros moves on from the subject at hand. "I'll take the first watch," she offers.

As he looks around, Drav starts to realize just how long he has been awake, "Well, since I didn't plan to sleep near the mansion, I didn't bring my blanket. Looks like I have to sleep on the ground again." He then thinks to himself, 'I really didn't think this day through.'

"Aye, Brock and Val are off duty this night. I can watch with the dogs so it will be easier for the rest." Hearing Drav he says, "Ha! That is something all of us share. Every time we believe we have something in out inventory, it seems we have left it somewhere else. OK, so Takit will join Jocelyn on the first watch, I'll take the second and train Hopper a little bit, Gallath and Drav the third, and the love birds the last." he grins at the wizards. "Each post two bells, that will give the casters time enough of straight sleep."

"Hey!" Brock objects. "I'm not some invalid to be replaced by a dog! I'll take watch with Jocelyn. You can have the gnome," he says to Baeros angrily.

"I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, Brock," Jocelyn says. "You were injured too with the trolls."

As he looks over two Baeros, "Yes, that may be so, but how many of us have been awake since yesterday is another question." Drav pulls out the little bell and lightly taps it, so as to make a tiny chime, "You said two bells right?"

"Last watch is aliright with me" Ouragana says before resolutely snuggling into her bedroll, making it clear she doesn't want to talk anymore.
In the morning, she will politely discuss which spells are reasonable to prepare (invisibility vs. web), but not bring up the subject of love by herself.

Baeros looks offended for a moment, then, encouraged by Jocelyn reaction, says to Brock, "Yeah... what she said. I didn't mean to insult you. You did fight bravely this morning and a good rest will probably help you recover, but do as you will." And Baeros goes to sleep.
