Echo was all ready yelling at herself mentally about how she was going to do something stupid. She had to leave the protection of the others to make sure they weren't harmed though. Going around Nuvain, Echo tries to at least get to the side of the creature so she doesn't harm the others, she points her wand at the creature and says, "Fire!"

The creature continues to slash at Hollidan, but he keeps his shield up to keep it at bay.

Without shouting out any kind of warning, Echo just leaves the safety of the group, comes around to the side and blasts her wand at the creature. As she warned nobody, Hollidan moves in to strike at the exact same time, walking into the flame. Both he and the creature are burned badly and Hollidan cries out in agony, dropping to his knees.

"No!" Gimog directs his spiritual hammer at the creature, and it flies forward and strikes. While the creature turns, distracted, Nuvain moves in and casts a spell of aid on Hollidan, helping him get back to his feet.

"Hollidan!" Echo cries out, knowing that she was the one that injured him. "Damnit," she says to herself as she stomps her foot. Despite the fact she was in a middle of a fight at the moment, she was all ready in the process of berating herself for her stupid moves. "Nuvain, get him out of the way if you can. Gimog, keeping hitting it with that thing," she says. "And here comes another spell. Fire!" she cries out, holding the wand out once again.

As Echo's idea of 'fair warning' is to shout out she's going to blast seconds before doing so, this leads Hollidan and Nuvain to both try and scatter away from her before it's too late. The creature claws at Nuvain as he runs away, slicing deeply into his armor, robes and flesh. Luckily, the elf and paladin to get away before Echo incinerates them.

In scaring off her only protectors now, she finds herself alone. The creature turns toward her and snarls. It suddenly occurs to her that maybe this 'teamwork' thing these Gonto followers are always yammering about does hold at least some merit.

Fortunately, either through dumb luck or the will of the gods (but which one?), the creature's distraction buys Gimog the time he needs to smash its head in with his spiritual hammer, crumbling it to dust and saving her life.

==============

Initiative
Echo (1d10+3): 5
Hollidan (1d10): 2
Gimog (1d10+5): 13
Nuvain (1d10): 5
Keet (N/A)
Creature (1d10+3): 4

Round 3!

Keet does nothing.
Hollidan gets the hell away from Echo's blast range.
Creature attacks Nuvain with its right claw (1d20): 16, hit for (1d4+2): 5 damage. Then with its left claw (1d20): 17, hit for (1d4+2): 6 damage.
Nuvain gets the hell away from Echo's blast range.
Echo uses her Wand of Fire to blast a cone of flame, dealing 6 damage to the creature.
Gimog strikes at the creature with his spiritual hammer (1d20+1): 20, hit for (1d4+2): 3 damage. Creature crumbles to dust.

Echo puts her wand away, and lets out a small sigh. While there might be some merit to the whole teamwork thing, she sucked at it, and she knew she did. Though, she walks over to where Nuvain and Hollidan are. "I'm sorry," she says. It is clear she is angry, but not with them, but with herself.

Gimog helps Hollidan to his feet. "A little warning next time?" Hollidan asks Echo, still wincing from the bad burns he received.

"Let's go find the pharise and tell him we found the shield," Gimog suggests.

Nuvain moves to heal Hollidan, but he holds up a hand. "No, use it on yourself. I'll be fine," he insists.

Nuvain nods and casts his last cure spell on himself.

===========

Nuvain casts Cure Moderate Wounds on himself, restoring (1d10+1): 3 HP.

"Keet, are you okay?" Echo asks as she makes her exit from the room with the shield. It was time to get the hell out of there.

Trembling, Keet removes his hands from his eyes. "It over? We win?" he asks, looking around.

"Depends on your definition of 'fine,' Hollidan says. "Come on, let's go."

He leads the way, with the two clerics flanking Echo and Keet, back down the stairs.

"Fire hard to control," Keet observes as they start to backtrack all the way through the rooms they have already visited, including the ones with dead bullywugs in them.

Once they return to the main chamber where the others are, Hollidan tells the group to wait while he goes to speak with the pharise.

"Very hard to control, but it is also very useful," Echo says to Keet. "It kind of looks like that our job here is done," she adds as she takes a seat somewhere. "Their shield has been found, and I guess their pilgrimage is over."
