Good catch, Jaded. Sorry about that.

It costs 2 extra proficiency points to purchase a cross-classed NWP (So, in other words, the extra proficiency point for taking an NWP from a different class group is doubled).

Okay, how's this look:

STR 17
DEX 16
CON 08
INT 12
WIS 11
CHA 16

That should be 80 points total.

That should be fine, Jaded.

Is there anything I can do to help anyone along? Where is everybody at in terms of character creation?

Mechanically, I should be done pretty soon.

I'm unsure about his biography, though. I'm still doing research in that place and era.

Now that I'm off from work, I'll work on my character tonight. I will have to get with Jaded to figure out the bio.

Alon's core stats are:
STR 13, DEX 9, CON 11, INT 13, WIS 16, CHA 14
INT 13 gives me 3 extra proficiency points to spend, for a total of 15.
I'll choose Healing (14) and Herbalism (11) as NWPs (8 points) and dagger (THAC0 20) and staff (THAC0 20) as weapon proficiencies (6 points). The remaining point sits in waiting for 2nd level, to be spent on a NWP then...

Alon is of average height and built, with dark, curly hair he wears at shoulder length. His dark eyes easily betray his mood. He has a large, hooked nose and a prominent jawbone he tries to soften with a neatly trimmed beard that frames his thin lips.
He wears the robe of his tribe and vocation, with the dagger sheath stuck in his sash, and of course his holy symbol. The mantle would be worn only in winter or at night.

One curious question: The traditional sign of David is a six-pointed star, made of two interlaced triangles. Is there a specific reason why you choose an eight-pointed star for this campaign?

I'm glad you pointed that out, Breila. I was wondering if anyone would notice.

The traditional Star of David is a medieval invention. It wasn't in use by Jews as a symbol of identity until the 11th century CE, and it wasn't in widespread use until the 17th century CE. So, to use it in this campaign would be anachronistic.

I did a little bit of extrapolating. I had found an emblemfor the tribe of Levi that was a pair of squares intersecting at one corner, and it wasn't a great leap to come to the idea of an 8-pointed star - something that would suggest the 6-pointed Star of David to come, but not exactly the same.

Actually, to be historically accurate, it would be more appropriate to use a pentagram (this is actually what was probably referred to as the "Star of David" in the book of Psalms), but since that particular symbol has other connotations these days, I decided against using it.

I have a question. In the core rules, it's possible to devote a proficiency slot to a proficiency you already know, granting a +1 to its use. Using your system, would it cost two proficiency points to improve an already purchased proficiency, or could it still be improved with just 1 point?

By the way, here's my HP roll for 2nd level (1d10): 10.

I've decided to go with the name Melchior. No relation to the magi.

Do we start on 2nd level? I must have missed that...

Warriors and priests start at 2nd level, thieves at 3rd level.

Jaded - Only 1 point for the improvement. Lucky roll, btw ;)

Breila - It's mentioned in the classes thread.

I'm read to get this thing going as soon as I have everyone's characters. I don't want to seem impatient, but let's get things going, huh?

What exactly do you need beyond what I already posted, and this:

Die roll for 2nd level: 1d8=2. My hit point luck holds. I always have lower than average HP.
The additional NWP would be Reading and writing. So the base character sheet would look like this:

STR 13, DEX 9, CON 11, INT 13, WIS 16, CHA 14

Weapon proficiencies: dagger (THAC0 20), staff (THAC0 20)

NWP: Reading/Writing (14), Healing (14) and Herbalism (11)

Alon is of average height and built, with dark, curly hair he wears at shoulder length. His dark eyes easily betray his mood. He has a large, hooked nose and a prominent jawbone he tries to soften with a neatly trimmed beard that frames his thin lips.
He wears the robe of his tribe and vocation, with the dagger sheath stuck in his sash, and of course his holy symbol. The mantle would be worn only in winter or at night.

How wealthy would he be? Should I roll for starting money? If he has money engough for a mule or donkey, he can carry a small shrine and generally more equipment and water.

I promise I will work on my character on my weekend (Tuesday/Wednesday). I get up too late on my work days to actually do anything significance such as character creation.
