CH 8: Elvenhome

Laurana lets loose two arrows as she pulls alongside the others, aiming at Kapak #6.

Two of the kapaks head south, one meeting with Flint and the other going for Caramon. Flint parries the blow with his axe, but Caramon takes a slight cut across his cheek. The wound isn't even more than a scratch, but the big warrior suddenly stiffens and drops to the ground, completely paralyzed. "Watch out!" Flint calls in warning. "They're using poison swords!"

While Raistlin blasts Flint's attacker with magic missiles, another kapak goes for Riverwind. The plainsman dodges the attack, then readies his bow while Tika and Sturm take cover. Despite the close range, Riverwind looses the arrow and it slams right into the kapak's left eye. He screams, staggering backward. Tasslehoff then nails him with a stone, causing him to melt into acid right at Riverwind's and Sturm's feet.

The other three kapaks ignore the party, and go for the elves. Two miss, but one of the elves--a young blonde woman--screams out as she is stabbed in the heart. She slumps to the ground at the kapak's feet, dead within moments.

Laurana fires her bow at the kapak attacking Flint...but instead, accidentally hits the dwarf in the back. He cries out and whirls around. "Ambush! Ambush! They're coming from all sides!" he shouts, not aware who was responsible for hitting him.

Goldmoon fires her sling, but misses. Laurana draws another arrow, and this time hits the kapak she was aiming for. Riverwind also fires a second arrow at the kapak who just killed the elven warrior woman.

Tas winds up his sling and throws a rock at (( 5 )) with great force! Alas, the fates determine a miss due to bad luck. (( To Hit total of 6, I can link the miss if need be )) "Take that!" He shouts with a firm tone in his voice.

Sturm moves southward slowly. In the moonlight, he sees the wyvern has landed. Tanis and Gilthanas have mounted it, presumably against their will, and the creature takes off again, into the air.

"Ast tasarak sinuralan krynawi," Raistlin whispers, tossing some sand into the air. Two of the kapaks begin to sway, but only one falls to sleep. The other one shakes it off and continues his attack against Flint. Raistlin seems a bit stunned by this. "They can resist magic!" he hisses.

The battle rages onward, with arrows and stones flying every which way. No regard is taken at all for the lives of the elven guards. Laurana severely wounds one draconian, while Riverwind manages to kill one outright. The elven warrior woman fighting him is then splashed with acid, but manages to survive--just barely.

Speaking of the elves, the three surviving ones are not doing too well, at all. They are all badly wounded and close to death.

Realising her fighting skills are not the most needed skills right now, Goldmoon pockets her sling and runs over to elf No. 4. She pulls her away from the acid and calls upon Mishakal to heal the elven woman (lay on hands).
