The Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom (Game Thread IX)

"I am not worthy of such an honor, but I will try to be." he says with a low bow.

"The pain I saw after the war, i am ashamed to say made jaded, I turned from the light." he blushes. "It took a Gnome and a Kender of all things to show me friendship. And dare I say, Love?" he Blushes once more.

"I can see the light once more, I will allow Solinari will be my guide." he lifts his head and looks to Dunbar. "If you will have me?"

"You are correct," the dwarf says, "but they are pronounced 'Zeboim' and "Habbakuk.'" She smiles and nods to Locky but wisely does not accept her hand. "We get many kender here, although never a priest before. The kender are quite generous with donations, although they rarely give anything of any value. Just whatever cutlery and lint and balls of string in their pockets." She shakes her head with a sigh.

Dunbar grins. "Of course!" He pulls out a set of freshly pressed and immaculate white robes and hands them to Jerrard. "Wear them with pride, brother."

"Congratulations," Justarius adds. "When you are ready, Magus Caron will return you to Shrentak."

"I think I am one of the first." Locky says with pride, pushing out her little tummy. "Please, take this." She produces a pile of steel pieces from her pockets, the coins falling slowly into the Revered Daughters hand. (72 Overall).

Jerrard bows once more, "Thank you." he smiles, taking the robes reverently, "I will."

He stops looking at the assorted heads of the Orders, "There is one thing, the Experiments the Shroom was carrying out, I have the documents he produced, they are safe, I am at a loss what to do with them." He announces carefully, "What would your thoughts be on such things, I do not wish them to fall in the wrong hands, yet, they may prove useful to help anyone captured by such a creature in the future."

The dwarven priestess looks at the coins in shock. She takes a bite out of one to confirm it's real. "Paladine's beard! I don't believe it! My thanks to you, Revered Daughter." She stops suddenly, a troubling thought occurring to her. "You...uh, earned this coin, right? You didn't...'find' it in someone's safe or pockets?"

Dunbar considers what Jerrard says. "If you believe some good can come of them, then by all means turn them in. You can give them to Magus Caron after he returns you to your friends."

"Of course! We are Heroes you know!" Locky says with a Giggle. "Reverend Daughter this is Babuskha, my best friend." Locky says with a smile, "She would like to learn of the Gods..." She wraps an arm around Babuskha and smiles.

Gillian looks to Babushka. "Ah, a gnome. Don't see many of your kind here, and those that do come to the city tend to flock to the temple of Reorx the Craftsman." She nods to the ranger. "What would you like to know?"

"That indeed was my plan." He says with a smile, "I thank you again, and bid you good day." He bows and steps back, still in awe, still in shock, waiting for his former Master to be ready.

After leaving and returning to the room they first teleported in, Caron again chants the spell that will instantaneously bring them back to Shrentak. The same flash of light, same feeling of nausea (although not quite as severe this time), and they are again back in the alley. The quiet of the Tower has been replaced by vendors shouting out their wares. It's as if they never left.

"Sorry to lose you to the White Order, but I'm damned proud of you nonetheless," his master says, patting him on the shoulder. "I have some errands to run, but I'll come by the Bronzemoon estate this evening to pick up those documents before I return to the Tower."

"Are we not all brothers in Magic?" Jerrard asks, as he fights the feeling in his stomach, "I owe you a debt that one day I hope to repay, I hope my actions have gone some way to help."

Offering his Master his hand he gives a nod. "Until we meet later." with that he waits for his master to leave, before heading straight to the Estate as agreed.

"Reverend daughter, you can accept these coins without doubt. We found them in the lair of a wicked wizard, who meddled with nature and tried to produce mixes of plant and animal, even plant and man. He robbed merchant caravans to get the money - and people to experiment on.

And I would like to donate these, too" she takes out her two platinum pieces. "With Paladine's help, Locky here saved me from certain death twice, so I want to offer these to Paladine as thanks.

As to what I would like to know about the Gods, well, I do not know anything about them. Like most gnomes, I was tought about Reorx, but my family was not very fervent. And I have long since left Mt. Nevermind and went to live in Nature."

Gillian tells Babushka what she knows of the twenty one celestial gods and the story of how they returned twenty five years ago. After the little lesson, Thuskar escorts the girls back to the estate where they find Shay having tea with Merithina. He had apparently wandered off at some point, and nobody noticed. Before anyone can ask him what he was up to, that is when Jerrard returns. But inexplicably, he has shed his old red robes for pure white ones.

Babushka looks up at Jerrard, puzzled. "Jerrard, what happened? I mean, you can't just buy those robes in a mage shop, can you? And the color means something, doesn't it?"

"Indeed." He says patting Babuskha lightly on the shoulder, producing a small shiny dagger in a sheaf. "It seems my Master had plans. All Wizards must go through a Trial to ensure they are competent to practice the higher levels of magic." He sits in a chair next to Shay and Merithina, tapping the dagger on the table.

"The Test of High Sorcery, to fail means death, it seems that our little trip to the Caverns was my test. I was sent to learn to work with others, to use my magic, basically to see who I am as a person." He pulls at the robe lightly. "They saw goodness in me, goodness you brought out." Flashing the Gnome a smile he continues. "Thus, I passed, and I was accepted into the Order of Solinari, the order of the White Robes."

Flipping the dagger in his wrist he hands the blade to Babuskha. "This my dear, is for you, I traded it for the Shrooms Spellbooks, well partly. It is highly magical, please take it, it will help keep you alive the next time you encounter a Giant Spider."

"Ooohh They are quite lovely" Locky says with a look of awe, "Shay, where did you get to?" she asks with a grin, "You vanished on us."

When Jerrard produces the dagger she glances over, "That's nice."
