Gunter (Robbo) Private Thread

Desolate and abandoned, the evil alchemist’s mansion stands alone on the cliff, looking out towards the sea. Mysterious lights and ghostly hauntings have kept away the people of Saltmarsh, despite rumours of a fabulous forgotten treasure. What is its sinister secret?

Physical Description:
*Name: Gunter Boarblade
*Race: Human
*Age: 20
Apparent Age (if different):
*Height: 6’-6”

Complexion: Tanned skin, most of face is covered by a reddish/light brown beard.

Personal Items usually carried: Shortsword given to him by father when he turned 13, along with a fine map of Oerth in a hand carved, polished wooden case.

Personal Information:
*Personality: Fairly easy-going, polite and respectful of others as long as they are respectful in return. Would much rather be on his own, deep in the forest and enjoys these moments whenever he can get them although he reluctantly tolerates civilization and the hum-drum of daily life. Has a good sense of right and wrong and isn’t afraid to bend the rules to punish injustices done to him or his family/friends.

*Occupation: Up until a month ago, worked with his father as a farm-hand but would never turn down the opportunity to head into the Gnarley Forest to hunt for food and furs.

*Skills and Abilities: Agriculture, Hunting, Tracking, Set Snares, Blind Fighting,

*Weapons Used: Long sword, Short Sword, Battle Axe, Composite short bow

*Additional equipment: Quiver with 30 arrows, backpack, small shield, good cloth cloak, soft leather boots, flint and steel, polished wooden map case, small tent.

Background Information:

*History: Gunter grew up in the town of Narwell, working for his father in the fields and forest to support his family along with his younger sister and mother. He proudly helped to defend his home during the Greyhawk wars but quickly grew cynical when the City of Greyhawk moved troops into the town following the war. One day, he was coming home from a hunting trip in the Gnarley forest when he found a guardsman attempting to force himself on his 17 year old sister. Unable to control his rage, he beat the guard senseless with an axe handle and told him to never come back.

The next day, the guard did come back, with friends. Knowing they were in charge and there wasn’t much the townsfolk could do, the guards set fire to the Boarblade’s house, accusing Gunter of treason and saying they’d be back for his sister. Gunter snapped, and in a matter of seconds killed all four guardsmen.

Knowing what had just happened, the neighbors quickly banded together, took up a collection and hid Gunter for a couple of days until he could escape from the town, hiding underneath a caravan wagon bound for Greyhawk City…

As Gunter is roaming the area, he notices that there is not really much game, as could be expected so near a settlement. He does find a few interesting plants, though. Most noticeable is sweet woodruff, and he could bring some of that back to make May wine, either for the group or for sale to the innkeeper perhaps. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galium_odoratum for a description).
Otherwise, it is a fine spring day, and relaxation is easy to come by...

(Sorry for the delay in posting a response to this! I could have sworn I replied the day it went up...)

Gunter isn't too upset about the lack of game, he was looking forward to another rustic meal at the inn anyway, it was more the solitude he was after today. He gathers up the woodruff and begins to rack his brain for the wine 'recipe' he saw his father make a few times back in Narwell. It might be a good way to win some friends!

(OOC: Making May wine is easy: gather the woodruff, let it wilt a little until it becomes aromatic, and then hang it into a carafe of white wine. After a few hours, the aroma will have passed into the wine. It is advisable to consume that with moderation, too much makes for a "glorious" hangover!)
