The Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom (Game Thread VI)

During that downtime, Jerrard studies the three unknown scrolls he found in the Shroom's bookcase. Hopefully they were worth the effort, considering what he had to go through to obtain them.

Reading over the first scroll, Jerrard realized it contained a powerful incantation, indeed. The spell, Flesh to Stone, could turn someone into a statue, as the name suggests. This spell, while useful, is far beyond his ability to cast. It's more like something he would expect to find in his master's spellbook. Were Jerrard to cast this spell directly from the scroll, he'd have to be very careful. Even the slightest imperfection in his pronunciation could cause it to backfire terribly.

Setting it aside, he reads over the second scroll. It also contains only a single spell. It is a spell of Fireball, well known to mages of all colors and skill levels. The spell is too complex for him to cast, but not nearly as complicated as the previous one. He could conceivably cast this directly from the scroll without worrying too much about it backfiring.

Next was the third and final scroll. Reading over it, Jerrard realizes too late, the scroll is cursed. He cannot stop reading until he reaches the end. Once he is finished, the scroll disintegrates entirely, leaving behind nothing but dust.
