Prologue

"It is indeed, old friend!" Tanis responds, coming into full view. "So, been travelling far? You must have if you're stopping here for a rest." he asked.

[JadedDM]

Riverwind cast a glance to Goldmoon over his shoulder, unsure if she was being serious or facetious. He pauses again and squats down, examining some horse droppings with flies buzzing around them. "Fresh," he comments. "We are nearing the town, I believe. We should be there by nightfall. We can get a room at the inn and a warm meal, then first thing in the morning, try and find out more about these Seekers."

[JadedDM]

"I'm not so old I need to stop and rest, if that's what you're saying," Flint grumbles, getting to his feet. "Why the beard? You were ugly enough," he asks with a smirk.

[Breila]

Goldmoon nods. "Do you have any idea how long our money will last, if we need an inn and cooked meals every day? And how we can make money after that?"

[JadedDM]

Riverwind frowns as he stands back up. "We can live off the land, if need be. I can hunt well enough. But with any luck, we will learn to use the staff and return home before it comes to that."

[Breila]

"Well, if we need to ask people, we'll have to stay in the town, won't we?

And I'm not sure I want to return to our homeland that quickly. They wanted to stone you, because the staff upsets their beliefs, remember? They're not going to like further proof that the Old Gods still exist. Perhaps we can live in a different land in more peace?"

[Talyn]

Rastlin pauses as he looks up to see that Elf woman looking back at them. "It seems she has heard us talking." he says quietly to Caramon. "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves before she thinks we are dangerous and flees." he seems to find that idea amusing.

He leans on his staff as he looks at his brother expectantly.

"Ah, leave this to me, Raist..."
Caramon jogs nearer the elfin woman, ear to ear smile on his face.

"Hail! Fair Lady, the roads in these parts are not safe these days. Perhaps, if our destinations are the same, you wouldn't mind the company of a mighty warrior and wizard to watch your backside? I mean back, watch your back. For goblins, bandits or worse?"

[JadedDM]

Riverwind skids to a halt and whirls around to face her, shock clear in his face that she would even suggest that. "You are the Chieftain's daughter! Would you really turn your back on your people?"

[Breila]

Tears well up in Goldmoon's eyes.

"Well, I don't want to! But I want to live! They were going to kill you, and who knows what would have happened if the staff hadn't brought us away! Maybe they would have stoned me with you right on the spot, maybe they would have dragged me away, bound me to watch you die, and killed me later for insubordination!"


(ooc: Is it in line with her lawful alignment to question the wisdom of killing people just because they believe something different from the "official" religion?)

Gently, Riverwind reaches up and brushes away her tears with his hand. "I do not think your father would have allowed that. I am a heretic and an exile. But you are the Chieftain's Daughter. I cannot believe they would treat you as they would me."

(OOC: Oh, absolutely. Especially since, in Goldmoon's mind, the heretical beliefs of Riverwind are true and what the Que-Shu believe is false. That means they tried to kill someone for believing the truth, and a LG person would certainly object to that, in my opinion.)

[Breila]

"Oh, Riverwind, I don't know. I don't understand my father any more - or the council of elders." Goldmoon swallows hard.

"You were sent out to bring back proof that the Old Gods existed, and you came back with this staff, which healed my father.
He should have thanked the Goddess on his knees and", she swallows again, "he should have joined us in marriage, as he had promised."

She looks into Riverwind's eyes, then down on the ground. Her voice becomes increassingly hoarse, then breaksso she can only whisper.

"Instead, he - or they - sentenced you to a gruesome death. And I'n not sure they wouldn't have killed me, too, if I had continued to stand by you. And I wouldn't have wanted to live on anyway... if you had died like that..."

She trembles from head to toe now, shaken by her emotions.

"I was aiming at dwarf level." Tanis laughed offering his hand to Flint. "Well, come, lets be on to Solace and to old friends!" he chuckled warmly.

[Jenara]

The Elven maiden flicks back her long honey blonde hair, revealing her pointy ears and big brown almond shaped eyes.

"Me? Are you talking to me? Do you know who I am... No of course you don't, who I am is unimportant really." She looks to the man who walks with the Warrior, "Is he well? I have heard of terrible plagues.." She drifts off.

"I am quite capable of looking after myself thank you. Perhaps I could escort you. Its obvious that this beautiful woman believes everything she says.

Caramon clears his throat,

"Well, My Dear, I would say we could escort each other! I take it you are heading to Solace as well? I am Caramon, and this is my brother Raistlin. He isn't ill per se, don't let his appearance fool you, he is capable of taking care of himself. Especially when I'm around."

Caramon beams a smile and falls into step, near the elfin beauty. While keeping an eye on Raistlin, he again addresses the woman,

"I would hardly say that you're unimportant though. To whom do I have the pleasure of traveling with?"
