Carith's axe sinks deep into the charred 'face' of the creature. The ooze has apparently fled that portion of it's anatomy. As soon as her words leave her lips, the treant backhands her, sending her flying into the brush along side the road.

Bill, scrambling to his feet and screaming his warcry, takes up two hefty limbs fallen from neighboring trees. He attacks the treant's smaller limbs (At least the ones he can reach) shattering both the limbs and his makeshift weapons. He swings until his clubs are reduced to meer stubs and then he picks up the treant's own fallen limbs, preparing to attack with those.

Hedra's chanting is reaching the main portion of the composition. She has begun to feel a slight tingling sensation, much like being bathed in sunlight after swimming in a cold stream. It warms her and makes her hair begin to stand on end....

The treant, while still aggressive, is now becoming distracted by an unseen force. Something is drawing it's attention, though it seems unsure of where the irritation is coming from.

Feeling a response, Hedra is encouraged and puts even more expression into her chant. While singing the plea of the mother for a true death of her child, she imagines a huge fallen tree in a clearing full of sunlight, its dead trunk giving shelter to birds and small mammals; flowers and young saplings gaining nutrition from its decomposing branches.

The mage keeps stepping back so he can get a better angle on his target. "Keep it disoriented, don't try and fight it directly!" he shouts to his defenders. He holds his staff up and focuses with is hand on the crystal at the top.

He is collecting the energy he keeps stored in the orb for a focused blast on the tree, its going to exhaust him... if it doesn't kill him first.

(( Not sure how this would work IL, winging it to be honest. ))

Cursing as she pulls herself from the bushes, she raises the axe once more. Disorient it huh? How would she do that? Fighting the pain from her wounds she steps forwards, then as lightly as she can she swings at the branches, never hitting the same place twice, attempting to keep the creature distracted.

Hedra and Carith's actions are working well at keeping the treant off balance, though little direct damage is being done to the creature itself. Wolf's focus on the other hand is slowly causing him increasing pain. First his hair stands on end, crackling as if from static electricity. His vision is beginning to tunnel, going bright white at the edges, rather than the black tunnels that one normally sees before passing out. His hands feel as if they are flame themselves, and his blood feels as if it's boiling. Much more effort and he will black out.

Carith keeps up her frenzied attacks, chopping the tree like she was felling firewood.

Her eyes go to the caster, she says nothing, aware that her previous comments his way had caused a response from the tree. Yet she watches him never the less.

Callan moves forward, entering the fray reluctantly. He has no doubt that such a large opponent could smash any one of his fellow travelers flat should it manage to focus on one target. But employing wolf-pack tactics may render the creature unable to do so.

He keeps his shield raised as he closes in to employ his spear. The shield won't be much help in terms of turning aside a blow with this much weight behind it, but at the least it might spread the impact.

Wolf lets out the magic he has been building up, focused as tightly as he can to hit the treant square in the trunk with it. He lets out a small gasp once the magic is released and leans on his staff breathing heavily as he focuses on not passing out.

The magic release is a tight stream of intensely hot flame that shoots forth from Wolf's outstretched hand, the orb on his staff seems much more lackluster than before as well.

Between Bill and Carith's darting attacks and Hedra's chanting, the treant is greatly weakened. Wolf's magic is finally completed, blasting forth a column of flame that envelops a good portion of the treant's 'body'. Those engaged in melee with the beast are singed, heavily, much of their clothing igniting. The creature howls in pain, sounding again like a falling tree's creaking.

Wolf's vision dances and finally gives way to blackness. He slumps to the ground, exhausted from more exertion than he's ever had to muster at one time.

Howling a little herself Carith swings her axe in a mighty arc, straight into the creatures face, attempting to chop the now weakened Treant in half.

If successful she drops to her knees, the axe laid before her.

Having finished her chant, Hedra opens her eyes and sees her comrades burning, Wolf lying on the ground.

"Roll on the ground to extinguish the flames!" she shouts to everyone, then hurries over to Wolf. Checking for his vital signs, she murmurs a prayer for his life. "Oheah, drmanheer hotfeele gshitst. Lossnnet sterbe!"

If there is a steady breathing and pulse, she looks up if any of the others need her help, or if the treant turns on them.

"Arghhhh." Hedra's words drag Carith back into consciousness. Pulling off her jacket she throws it to the ground and rolls over from side to side, trying to extingush anything that wont go out she pulls off, concentrating on her boots... It was hard to find go boots.

"Bill, listen to the Dwarf, roll, extingush the flames!" She shouts as she rolls, stripping off her trousers.

"Is he alive?" She asks the dwarf, now half naked, she has no shame, paying no attention to her state of dress, she had a few spare clothes at the caravan, but not enough.

Checking Wolf's vital signs show that he'll be fine, so Hedra looks the other over. Luckily, they had listened to her, so no one was in flames any longer.

The only weapon able to reach the burning treant without risk of catching fire again is Callan's spear. Hedra hurries over to him.
"Callan, please give me you spear. Let me bless it, that might be just what we need to really kill the beast."

Seeing the Zombeant lurching backwards Bill backs off, wiping the spittle from around his mouth with the back of his burnt and bloodied arm. Not as fun as a regular zombie, but tougher. Have to grant the bastard that.

Bill walks slowly over to see if the caster lives.

"Is he like to be well?"

If the healer shows Bill any attention he will brush her away.

"Yes, Bill, Wolf will be OK. He's just very tired. We all are. Let's kill that beast for good and go back to camp."

Hedra sees Bill is hurt, but she finds it hard to stay on her feet already, no force left for a healing attmpt on someone who is not threatened.
