First question:

What is the name of the village we are starting in?
And where is it on the map?

Who said you were starting out in a village? :)

I actually haven't decided where to start the campaign yet. The starting adventure takes the PCs to a coastal fishing village, but where that village in relation to the rest of the empire does not matter in the great scheme of things. Where I place the village in question is going to depend on what area I can maneuver all the PCs backstories into.

While the PCs are working on backstories, you might want to give some thought to whether they know each other, what their relationships are like, that sort of thing. This works with a bunch of complete strangers, with passing acquaintances, or with a close-knit party.

No need to apologize.

Starting in a pub in some small village is the default beginning of the typical game, and with good reason. A pub is a place where anyone, from any walk of life and any background, might be found. You don't need much backstory to wind up there.
I have in the past had some less typical starts - I had the PCs wake up in a slave wagon at the start of a Dark Sun game, only to piece together over the course of four or five sessions that they were all related by blood and had previously been involved in a failed attempt to rescue yet another family member. And the original Borderlands game started with the PCs waking up in a ruined village in the bloody aftermath of a battle in which neither side had been worried about collateral damage.

We'll see where this one starts.

Yes, but nobody ever accused Slagg of being cute.

We just landed ourselves a rogue from dragonsfoot, so the party is fairly well rounded, apart from not having a mage. My other PBMB group has survived without a mage for three years, so we may be okay to go.

So, we have
Jenara - half elf fighter
Tempest - elf ranger
Bryant - dwarf fighter
Wumbo - ??
Legacy - human? cleric
Patonius - Rogue

I am a little vague right now regarding Wumbo. Did he send me a PM and I accidentally deleted it, or did somebody else tell me he wanted to play?

Edit Jen: Changed to half elf (read the sheet!)

Okay, I've made Ismaels-Legacy and Wizard_of_Wumbo members of this forum.
If I did it right, they should be able to post now.

Remember, everyone, the sooner I have your characters the better. Next week is going to be a bit busy for me, then I will be without internet access for the following week. If all the PCs are done before I go, we can get started that much sooner after I return.

I respectfully wish to ask the following questions:

1. Which other languages are available for learning besides the obvious racial ones (elven, dwarven)?

2. What are the common humanoids (goblin, orc, etc.) of the setting, if any, and what do they speak? I mean, this campaign may not have orcs (Krynn lacks them).

3. Are there any ancient civilizations before the Aerdian Empire, especially ones that spoke a strange language?

Frivolous, what type of Cleric are you playing? I may end up changing to a different class if you're going to have the healing for the group covered....

He's a fighting cleric; follows Cronus.

Some more questions:

1. May I also ask if we are allowed to have hirelings or own slaves to take care of our baggage?

I would recommend that the party have at least a couple of mules to carry food and equipment, and a hireling to manage the mules, feed them, etc. Maybe even a wagon.

2. I know this is a low-magic setting, so I understand if it is not allowed, but can we have one or two objects with Continual Light on them, so we don't have to mess around with torches or lanterns for illumination?

3. Can all of us start out as citizens? I'm presuming we want to start out as citizens, though some concepts may make that undesirable.

4: Do spyglasses exist, and can we have one? They are not magical, but the PHB says they're very expensive, 1000 gold.

Angel has a light war horse. More for personal transportation than carrying items.. Don't have more than you can carry.. If you can't carry it.. You don't need it (her motto anyway)
