Jerrard frowns, why did they linger here for so long? These people needed help, that was for certain, but how could he help them? Really?

"I surmise that we need a magical weapon to open this, and a reasonably powerful one at that." He tries to keep his voice down, but it was hard to stop his voice rising. "Unless you have any Acid in those pouches of yours Locky?"

His reaction changes when Bab shouts. "My Lady, it appears we have some creatures to stop, we will try to deal with this problem once we stop them." Drawing his blade, he steps towards the cavern entrance to back up Bab. "Locky, we will try to trap them in the entrance, please fire at the masses. Shay.." He stops as he reaches the cavern. "We retreat if we must, although I doubt there is anywhere we can go..." Rasing his blade he attempts to strike the first creature.

[Roll 1d20=17, hit AC1, Damage 1d6=5+2 =7]

(Ooc: Did the glowing goo seem anything like Acid?)

(ooc: No, the glowing goo didn't attack organic matter, we tried it on an old rag. Its main property turned out to be extinguishing fire)

Babushka suddenly feels something in her pocket move. Without warning, the strange purple fungus coil they had found earlier hardens and straightens out, audibly ripping through the gnome's pocket and then clattering to the ground at her feet. It now resembles a standard quarterstaff.

This causes her to miss entirely when she swings her own staff at the podman coming toward her.

Jerrard quickly steps up beside her, bottling the podmen in the cavern so they can't surround the party. He swings his blade at the closest podman, slicing through its torso cleanly. However, the podman refuses to fall and die.

Initiative unnecessary, podmen automatically lose.

The fungus coil hardens.
Babuskha attacks (4) Podman 1 and misses.
Jerrard attacks (17) Podman 2 and hits for 7 damage.

Locky raises her hoopak and fires off two bullets into the group.

Luckily, Babushka is short, allowing Locky to fling stones over her head. She nails the gnome's opponent with two stones, but it brushes off the damage and keeps attacking.

"Duck!" Shay calls out to the wizard. Once Jerrard has done so, he throws his only two daggers at Jerrard's opponent. The first one doesn't come near to hitting, clattering across the stone wall instead. The second one merely cuts the podman's cheek. "Branchala bite me!" the thief swears.

The two podmen in the front of the group retaliate. The first one grabs Babushka's left shoulder with an iron grip, refusing to let go. It then uses its free fist to strike her across her chin, causing her to taste a bit of blood. The second podman does likewise with Jerrard, grabbing his left arm. However, the mage is able to avoid the incoming punch entirely.

Locky slings two stones toward Podman 01 (7 and 16) and both hit for a total of 7 damage.
Shay throws two daggers at Podman 02 (1d20+1): 4, miss. (1d20+1): 18, hit. (1d4): 1 damage.

(OOC: Geez Louise, does Shay ever suck. -_-)

Podman 01 attacks Babushka (1d20): 18, grab (1d20): 16, hits. (1d6): 3 damage.
Podman 02 attacks Jerrard (1d20): 17, grab (1d20): 7, miss.

"You take the staff!" Babushka shouts, as she sees no chance for herself in the podman's grip. She tries to hit him in the face with the end of her own staff, still in her right hand.

1d20-4, 1d6=[17, -4], [5] (hits AC 4 for 5 damage)

Despite the awkwardness of handling her staff in one hand, Babushka manages to smack the podman in the face. Although bleeding from several wounds, it refuses to die and let the gnome go.

Jerrard speaks the spidery tongue of magic, two bolts of magical energy stream from his hands, shooting into the creature.

1d4+1=5, 1d4+1=5
(ooc:wow those are some lucky rolls)

If the creature falls he will escape its grip and grasp the staff in his hands, sheaving his sword and ready himself for another attack.

Locky seeing jerrard grasp the staff (assumption) lets off another round of bullets over the Gnomes head.

1d20=13, 1d4+1=4, 1d20=19, 1d4+1=5

"We cant fight them all!" She shouts over the noise of the creatures, her Hoopak ready, she frowns and glances at the Cages.

Was that staff magical? It certainly looked that way, could if open the cages? Jerrard was smart, he'd know that.

Chanting a familiar incantation, Jerrard unleashes two magical missiles of energy toward his opponent. The force of the blows cause the podman to let go of Jerrard and fall to the ground, unmoving. Taking the opportunity, the wizard quickly scoops up the fallen fungus staff and readies it.

Locky slings two more stones at Babushka's opponent that strike the podman's head with such force that its neck snaps and it falls to the ground, dead, letting go of Babushka in the process.

Shay has no more daggers to throw and there is no room for him to join melee. Glancing to Locky, he says, "Any miracles up your sleeves that might help?"

The next two podman come forward, stepping over the bodies of their fallen comrades. The first swings at Babushka, but the gnome easily ducks. Not to be deterred, the podman swings again and misses so badly that it practically spins on its heel before falling to the ground in a clumsy heap.

The second podman has better luck. It grabs hold of Jerrard's left shoulder, then slams its free fist across his face with considerable force, likely leaving a black eye. The magical energy surrounding Jerrard, protecting him, cackles and then fades away, unable to take any further punishment.

Jerrard casts Magic Missile at Podman 02 for a total of 10 damage. Podman 02 lets go of Jerrard and falls. He drops his sword and picks up the fungus staff.
Locky slings two stones (13) and (19) at Podman 01 for a total of 9 damage. Podman 01 lets go of Babushka and falls.
Shay has nothing to do this round.
Podman 03 steps forward and attacks Babushka (1d20): 5, miss. (1d20): 1, fumbles. Podman 03 is now prone. Anyone who attacks him this round gets a +4 to hit.
Podman 04 steps forward and attacks Jerrard (1d20): 18, grab. (1d20): 20, critical hit. (2d6): 7 damage. Jerrard's Armor spell fails.

(OOC: Jerrard must apply a -4 to all attack rolls as long as the Podman is grabbing him.)

End Round 2, Begin Round 3.

Babushka drops her staff, drawing the daggers out of their boot sheaths, she attacks the prone podman, giving Locky room to fire at the next podman.

(invisible castle being unavailable to me at the moment, I'm using my own dice)

Dropping her staff, the gnome draws out her twin daggers and slashes at the prone podman, but doesn't seem to do any significant harm.

Jerrard attempts to strike the creature using the 'Plant' staff, fighting awkwardly with one hand he does his best to push the creature off.

Locky continues her assault with the sling portion of her hoopak, nailing the podman again with two stones.

Jerrard finds that despite the fact that the fungus coil was earlier soft and squishy, it is now solid as stone. More than that, unlike a traditional wooden staff, he notices this fungus staff is light-weight and has excellent balance. He strikes the podman clinging to him, causing a nasty bruise to appear across its face.

However, the podmen are nearly as resilient as the party. The one fighting Babushka grabs her left shoulder, then punches her in the face, causing her to spit out blood. The one holding on to Jerrard punches him in the gut, causing the wizard to lose his breath for a moment.

Jerrard attacks Podman 04 (15, hit) for 6 damage.
Shay has no more daggers and cannot attack.
Podman 03 gets back up and attacks Babushka (1d20): 16, grab. (1d20): 15, hit. (1d6): 3 damage.
