Babushka is pulled into the ground, which turns out to be some kind of quicksand. She is forced to hold her breath to avoid 'drowning' in the liquid-like dirt, and she cannot see anything at all down there, much less her attacker.

Meanwhile, back at the camp, Ulster nods. "Not only that, but our quarry has a big head-start on us. Unless they come to a full stop, we aren't likely to catch up to them any time soon."

=============

(OOC: Babushka can continue attempting to escape each round, but obviously, she can only hold her breath for a few rounds.

As for the rest of you, I suppose a successful Detect Noise check (1d100) might let you hear Babushka's scream.)

OOC- I doubt that Jeremy is close enough to hear, as we went in different directions, but I Guess an attempt is better than none.

"I think we've had this discussion before," Thuskar says. "There's really nothing that can be done to speed us up any faster than we're going."

Meanwhile, Babushka struggles against her bonds while holding her breath. Things are looking grim, indeed. At this point, her only hope is to somehow break free before she suffocates.

"Yes, we are going as quick as we can, without the mounts. " Jerrard responds, "The others should be back soon." He adds, making what food he can with the rations.

"This forest really is interesting, not boring.." Locky rambles, "I hope Babuskha finds some water."

Babushka makes another attempt to break free. She comes closer this time, but doesn't succeed yet.

"Then all we can do is hope that we run into them eventually," Imani says with a shrug.

"For the time being, all we can do is try and survive and stick together," Thuskar says. "Before we lose anyone else on this little expedition."

Meanwhile, Babushka struggles against the tentacles, and almost makes it to the surface, but is pulled back down instead. The spikes on the tendrils cut into her flesh whenever she struggles, but what else can she do? She begins to feel light-headed as her lungs scream for air.

Babushka continues her efforts, knowing this is her only chance at life, but her strenght fades.

(Bit late to submit this, but perhaps Fikod can hear them?)

DN roll: 62

Fikod raises his head to regard the white-robed man, looking up from sorting out his bedroll. "Nae more than ye could toss me in the river and see me float and kicking about. I sink like stone, and I'd get further riding halite than horses." He laughs a bit, ducking our of his hooded cloak so that his lank black hair falls freely to his shoulders.

"Yes, we need to stick together." Jerrard agrees, "I hope the others get back soon, like you said we don't want to loose anyone." Turning to the dwarf he nods. "They have their uses. I wish things could have been different, but we will get back to civilization soon, I am not liking this forest."

Locky sits quietly, thinking... (a dangerous sign)

"Why don't you like the forest?" Imani asks. "I'm kind of enjoying it, really," she admits. "It's...a lot different than the desert."

"I suppose the forest beats the desert," Ulster adds. "That place was a deathtrap. The heat, the lack of food and water; the forest is safe as houses in comparison."

Babushka continues to struggle in vain, unable to break free of the spiked black tendrils wrapping around her body, cutting into her skin and damaging her clothing and armor. Her lungs cry out for air, but there is none to breathe. She feels herself growing weaker and weaker, barely able to even struggle. Suddenly, she feels something coarse and floppy rub up against her free hand. It almost feels like...rope?
