Yes, use invis castle for hp and starting wealth. You get max hp for 1st lvl (so... 4 for you) then roll for lvl 2 and 3 hps.
don't forget your magic item OR extra gp OR familiar. (All detailed in the rules forum)

I don't really have any hints for languages... maybe broad strokes, basic races... and maybe look at what races your fellow PCs are taking. Stay true to the character, though (If you're not from Krynn, you probably have no idea what a Kender is. If you're a city-boy you probably have no use for the language of Centaurs, etc)

Pick out your WP, NWPs, mag item/eq, etc and always let me know if you have questions.

Ah perfect, I plan on taking the cantrip NWP for sure, but I'll also take some time with the complete wizard book and find some fun ones.

Slightly better hearing (a little higher pitch range), better vision (in color, second only to birds of prey, no night vision).

Typically when not 'reporting' the sense bonuses for any familiar are represented as a -1 for something to surprise the caster. But a familiar with opposable thumbs? Priceless.

Surgate, a reply to your question from your private thread:

That spell thing was my fault, and just an oversight. You are supposed to get an Abjuration spell as well when you become eligible for a new spell level. The difference is that specialists choose any spell from their own school. Unfortunately the only 2nd level Abjuration spell in the PHB is 'Protection from Cantrips'. There is another in the Complete Wizard called Filter.

You could not do ESP twice because at least one of your memorized slots must be from the Abjuration school.

In the future, if anyone wants to try to learn a spell from the 'Complete' series or Tome of Magic; let me know which one and I will consider them on a case-by-case basis. If I am going to accept a spell from any other source (player's option, wizard spell compendium) i will introduce it in-game.

Note about wizard spell compendium series: the character must either be from the world the spell originated in, or currently in it (Ravenloft)

How much of a backstory do you need? Are you going to handle the transition from Krynn to where we start?

A paragraph or two should be enough, but the more you give me the more I can work into the campaign. At minimum I would want to know his motivation for adventuring (even if it's just wanderlust), why/how he became a thief (or Handler as they call it, since the concept of ownership is tenuous at best for Kender), and if any tragedy occurred in his past that is important for why/how he does things.

We will handle the transition during solo-play after character creation. I always like to RP that part, it gives the game more flavor.

If you aren't familiar with Krynn, or don't want to go into specifics about it, don't worry about where you are geographically. If you want to add it for a particular reason (I.e. starting near the kenderhome) that's ok too.
