Nocturno (Private thread) Labyrinth of Madness

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

About Jack:

Hideous to look upon, (Cha 7 but a nice guy) Jack’s grotesque form masks a shrewd intellect and kindly disposition. Forced to operate from the shadows to avoid frightening young children he has become a master of them… He has spent his entire life wandering from place to place looking for adventure and avoiding the mocking crowds that tend to gather when he is ‘discovered’. As such he has no guild nor followers.
His motivation for going to the dungeon is to rescue the lost Paladin and gain some form of acceptance in the world. He hopes that as a ‘hero’ people will look past his appearance and see the good in him.

Jack wears no armour. Instead choosing to dress as a common artisan or poor merchant but always with a deep concealing hood, mask or wide brimmed hat.

Jack is 34 years old. He stands 5’ 9” in his stockinged feet and weighs 150lbs.
He has spent his entire life wandering from place to place looking for adventure and avoiding the mocking crowds that tend to gather when he is ‘discovered’. As such he has no guild nor followers.

The walls are basically nondescript so I'll cut the search time in half, but that is still 5 mins per 10x20 ft of wall. the two narrower walls are 20x30 (15 mins ea) and the longer sides are 30x30 (22.5 ea) so it will take 1hr 15 mins to search all the walls in the pit, not including the floor. Where is he starting and how far is he going? Is he searching the area/room above the pit too?

Can we reduce it if he is clearly looking for Statue controls?
Maybe he will ask for help searching. He will start under the hands for now, keep going until the party stops him.

I think that makes sense.

There are no obvious controls, and he has given the statue itself a thorough search. if anything remains to be found it will require a full search in this manner. More people looking can cut down the time as long as i know who is looking where

He will start searching near the statue, see if anyone joins him.
