Act 2 Scene 5: "Cavern of the Crown of Souls" (Game Thread)

Once the landing and the immediate area after the crawl is clear, Pyros will go start testing the bridge.

Pytor and Elsa make it through the crawlspace safely as Pyros approaches the large bone-bridge. It appears plenty wide enough to walk across and, although damp with moisture, it should not present a hazard unless one is rushing or distracted.

[Nocturno]

He will start to make his way across testing for traps/weak spots, then being extra careful at the end double checking where the next steps would go.

"Area seems to be clear. Bridge seems sturdy!"

As no-one owns up to needing healing or other respite Jerry tries to help those at the front. "Keep your eyes open, Merrick," she says, and tries carefully to catch up with Pyros.

Jerry climbs down, Merrick hesitantly trailing. The Mystaran begins the cramped crawl as Pyros tests the ledge. Almost imperceptibly the mists begin to rise towards him, eddies and swirls as he nears the ledge; blocking his way back. Abruptly they resolve into the grotesque figures of rotting and mutilated corpses!

[wow, good thing ties pass!]

Pyros takes a reflexive step back away from the horrific incorporeal figures as they reach for him, his makeshift crutch slipping on the edge of the bridge and threatening to tumble him onto the mists below. Only his surreal natural agility allows him to regain his balance and reach the ledge safely

PYROS!!! Elsa cries out loudly as she moves towards the bridge, fishing for her holy symbol.

Gripping tightly.

"WOW! What are you guys doing here?" He will start sliding towards the near edge.

Hearing Elsa's cry, Jerry moves forwards with more urgency.

Can Jerry see (and identify) the incorporials?

Jerry manages to wriggle her way to the end, just as Pyros reachss the ledge between the two long bone bridges. Merrick calls back to the others above as he too begins to crawl through the tunnel towards the halflllings. Raising her holy symbol high, Elsa cries out in the name of Yondalla. A pure golden light washes over the room and the phantoms vanish; though the mist continues to swirl below. In the instant before the flash, all Jerry could tell is that they appeared to be horribly grotesque phantoms, still in mutilated and decaying visages probably similar to what thry held in life. It seems likely these incorporeal undead were past victims of the dangers in this cave complex.

Mace in one hand Jerry gets ready to Turn in case more incorporeals arrive but asks, "Is this a dead end? No pun intended. Or does it lead onwards?"
She moves up towards Elsa but lags a little, not wanting to leave Merrick behind either.

[Jerrard]

"Trapped? I would not say Trapped my Lady, more inconvenienced. I will wait with Lady Tarlyn." Karl keeps his sword drawn and waits.

[Jenara]

"Wait- Elsa!" Mira calls, not waiting for any sort of reply she pushes her way forward trying to make her way towards the Hafling.

[Nocturno]

Pyros makes his way across, inspecting each step carefully.

Then checking out if there is any exit.

[TristenC]

Still covered in sandy grit Jerry presents her holy symbol; dividing her glances between the misty chasm and the crawlspace until Merrick too emerges. He pauses to consider the aged bone jammed into the wall. Pytor and Elsa move closer to the edge and, as Pyros moves along the second bridge and out of view, Elsa begins to carefully cross as well... On the far side, Pyros crosses the shorter bridge to find another passage leading deeper into the caved. It splits off into two more paths not far beyond...

Mira rushes past Adrestia, pusing into the cramped passage in search of her friend. The bard is forced to crawl throuhh the gritty, claustrophobic passage as sand and fine dust threaten to send her into a coughing fit. About half-way through she can barely make out the hem of Merrick's robe as he stands at the end...

Back at the main entrance, Adrestia mutters something about brashness and rapelles down to attempt her own passage. Tarlyn regards the others with concern. Cross and Artanis continue to watch the entrance while Karl and Adran remain near Tarlyn.
