He takes it in but it is obvious he is having trouble picturing it. (Skald is one of the largest towns in this region and it isn't even 1/10th the size of Waterdeep)
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
"It's fine. Just give me a hug, hey?" she says trying to alleviate his perplexity.

Merrick returns the hug, a little awkwardly. it's just a lot to process so quickly, and we are heading into a dangerous situation.Maybe we can talk about it when we get back to town?

Had a really busy few weeks here lately, I haven't had much time to dedicate to side threads. Even so Merricks hesitation, awkwardness and desire to think things through are pretty in keeping with his character it's not just me, lol.

A fair question given their intended reason for coming out here to find the crown

She will want to leave with him of course. But if he refuses to leave then who knows?

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
So i failed to mention before, turning in ravenloft is never a sure thing. For the automatic results essentially the only possible failure is to roll a 1 unless there are situational penalties (like turning in places of evil power such as this). Since it was my error in mentioning it i'll leave the result as automatic in this instance.Chris1234 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 4:35 am Brandishing her pendant, seven stars in a red mist, Jerry calls, "Mystra's servant tells ye to begone!"

Initiative [1d10]=7
Turns 2d6 skeletons as "T".
Number turned [2d6]=9

Thx Tristan.

I'm pretty sure that RAW T, D, D* are all automatically successful without a die roll, DM, campaign & Ravenloft notwithstanding. So would a roll of 2 have been successful here? Or is it one level lower on the table (so would need a 4 for skeletons and Mummy currently can't be turned by Jerry.)

Yeah, so in ravenloft specifically it is never automatic by 2e rules. All Ts and Ds on the table are essentially 1. All other campaign settings i'm aware of use the automatic successas described. Ravenloft is only the exception because of the horror mood of the setting.

And i realize i failed to answer one of your questions. So if there were no penalty, anything except a 1 would succeed. Now that Jerry has used the power she feels the evil resisting her efforts (which i'll add some flavor in the round text to describe). The penalty in the Cavern of the Crown is -3.
even if the penalty would make success impossible i will say a roll of nat 20 would still work against a creature she would have a chance to effect if there were no penalty

No worries, yeah these pbp long-runs can be a challenge for memory
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
Is an active skeleton likely to emerge near Jerry?
(That determines morningstar versus sling)

Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
pretty much everyone is on the ledge and out of range of the swinging skeletons except for Mira (who is invisible on the bridge) and Sir Karl (who stated he was walking out towards Mira)
Re: Jerry Greystar (Chris1234)- Private Thread
So can they potentially be whacked with a sling stone?
