Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

[There were some pews back in the chapel but that's about it for large objects. Probably wouldn't be able to fit them whole through some of the secret doors leading here.]

Faldair indicates to Galan that he could use detect magic

(Yes Van has been searching the hall mostly. He hasnt found anything)

When Zafron is looking at the section Tabbi is concerned with. Can he determine if he can avoid that section but jumping over or using a ladder?

(The spiked area she is concerned with is the last 3 feet in the pit. the 10 ft ladder could be tilted against the wall so one could climb out)

Realizing he has no relevant spells other than Detect magic to investigate the key alone.
He will see if he can figure what kind of lock this key would work in. Engineering maybe?
Door, padlock, or some kind of other lock.

Zafron will take the 10 pole first and start poking the spot in front of him that Tabbi determined to be strange. He will do light taps first. After that he will do hard taps.

Zafron will tie the report around his waist. Once done he will proceed to pock the floor.

Zafron begins to tap the area harder and harder. Abruptly there is a loud Whooosh! as all of the spikes in the last 3 feet fire upwards at once! The sharp CRACK of iron spikes embedding into the stone ceiling rings out in an almost deafening wave as chips of stone rain down on those near the end.

With a pale flash of light another row of spikes appears in position. Magic trigger, eh... Tabbi mutters. Explains why we didn't find it first. Those are a lot harder to spot.

"Anyone hurt?" Galan asks after he gets over the first surprise. "Wow... it was held there for too long..." after the noises and the rubble settle down Galan asks, "So, Zafron, do you think it is now safe to search the pit for passage or hidden compartment?"

Tabbi examines the new spikes replacing the old. ]Looks like it has reset. I think it will keep going off if we don't find some way to deactivate it. Magical traps often have a glyph of some kind. If we can find the glyph we would have a better chance of deactivating it.
