The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

"Did you find anything? I couldn't detect any sense of danger, magic, or any clue in fact of the statue. But I was distracted by Allahain and her mambo jumbo talk about our special friends... Maybe the statue have to be touched or spoken to? Didn't we need to do something similar with the snake head before?"

"Nothing yet." Jack replies, hiding in his hood.

Jack and Jag continue to search the walls downstairs while Allikhain finishes the walls upstairs.

Aha... She coos, smiling like a cat who has found the cream. Pressing a section of wall by the door upstairs reveals a small panel with a single lever in the up position. It seems we have a lead. Shall I? She asks the others, giving them time to prepare as they wish.

====
Time is 2:10 PM Moonday 3rd of Reaping.

-The South and West walls downstairs have been completely searched by Jack (bottom 10 ft of S wall by Jag)
-The North wall has been searched up to 10 ft high by Jag.
-The statue's entirety has been searched by Jack, Axid and Gur

Jag looks around the room.
"Landro, would you care to bring me back up?"

Jag will start to climb.

Landro hauls on the rope as soon as Jag has a good handhold and the half-Elf is soon returned to the upper level.

Ke'Sha gives a look of appreciation at Allahain. "Go ahead. I'll keep watch."

Once everyone is ready and out of the way, Allikhain pulls the lever. A stone ledge 10 feet wide begins to extend from the far wall to meet the upper floor. Landro adjusts the rope so it will not be trapped as the ledge closes off half of the pit, but provides a walkway to the door.

"Hmm.. Jack, I think your skills are required up here again." Ke'Sha will carefully approach the walkway, scan it with Gur's detect magic and his own Danger Sense.

(OOC: The walkaway is on the level above the statue, right?)

OK. Thanks. So does Ke'Sha senses anything? Or sees any magic?

[Only the door shows magic, as before. No danger sensed from anything]

Ke'Sha waits a bit more for Jack thinking to himself, "If only I had my minions with me here..." but losing his patience he tells Allikhain, "Watch my back, will ya." and he carefully touches the door with his mace, then try to open it.

Nothing happens when Ke'Sha touches the door with his mace and trying the handle reveals it to be locked but no keyhole is visible.

Allikhain considers the door. Gur mentioned it was magically enhanced with Alteration. Perhaps it is Wizard Locked. I could dispell it...

"Well, if there is no traps here, we can try to open it first." Ke'Sha touches the handle and tries to open the door.
