The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Since one of the group is headed up, Axid will make his way down into the 'troll hole'. "Let's see what we can find down this way. We've searched all the other hatches so this must be the way to go."
You are talkin' to the holy symbol wearing,
Ruby ring wearing, kiss stealing; Woo!
Praying/healing, beholder riding, griffin flying
Son of a blowgun, and I'm having a hard time holding these Aboleth shoes down! WOO!

"You are correct, I do not have it prepared. Today, but with the amount of items we are finding it might be prudent to have it ready. At least once."

“Let’s press on just a little further and maybe have some lunch or something and then back at it. We haven’t been in here that long.perhaps by say supper time we can make our way back and regroup for further forays into this chaos” Axid remarks.

Ke'Sha carefully collects the meaty bones. He likes this journey a lot so far.

(OOC: What did you mean by 'make our way back?' you want to camp outside the maze in the camp or make camp in the maze?)

(OOC: Sounds like someone wants to make their way back to camp outside of the Labyrinth. Plus others are concerned that their lack of prep is a hindrance (PC's can't all be like Batman [equipped for every contingency]) so my thought was explore until the next meal time and rest, refresh, and prep for the next go.)

"Well, I didn't expect anything other than Tiny from you." Ke'Sha mutters. "I agree with the grumpy dwarf. Let's press on and hide in your hut after supper."

Jag rolls his eyes so hard you can almost hear it.
"Well it is quite secure, but maybe a bit cramped with our Giantkin friend. It should allow us to study up for identify for some insight into these items."

(OOC: If I'm not mistaken we are about noon. Do you all want to continue explore few more places and then rest? Or rest now? I don't mind either way since I want to replace few spells to speak with the dead body we found and have some minions to our aid...)

Ke'Sha grunts, then coughs and spit of the floor. "Well... door." Ke'Sha gestures at the door. "I don't sense any danger, but you should give it a second check, Jack."

[No magic on the door. Jack has checked it for traps. The same person checking twice does nothing. The door is unlocked. Who is opening it?]

"Could you open it as well?" Ke'Sha asks politely and gives himself a mental note for the future, 'Humans... you need to be very explicit with them...'

[Yeah it's bit of a balancing act for me running an npc rogue in a puzzle dungeon like this without him waiting on pc input every few minutes. I really want the pcs leading decisions and invstigations and things of that nature from a 'what we do next' perspective]

Once concensus is reached, Jack opens the door very cautiously. It reveals a twenty foot wide room abput thirty feet long. On the far side is another door, but a pit the width of the room leaves a 10 foot gulf between them and the door.
