"We could always just take their weapons and send them outside. What will they do to us without weapons, and if anything they can spread our legend so it is easier to scare the next lot."

Ok, that sounds easy enough. So many just take a few extra leathers for his Hoopak, so he can replace them? OR soak them in water so they are moistened? Unless someone has a chain that could be purchased. He will take time and cover like 10 bullets in goo. Also, will it make it stick to the leather?
