"I...I might be able to buy you guys some time to get to the sewers," Kendra says. "The army doesn't have a leader, and I am pretty much the closest thing left alive that could be considered a leader considering my rank."

Kendra was barely paying attention to what other people were doing during the battle, she was so focus on trying to hack Inferno to pieces. Kendra watches in horror as William is consumed by Inferno's flames, but she continues her attack on the dragon hoping, at some point, to score a hit on him.

"Pen!" Kendra cries out as the kender is incinerated by the dragon. Now that the dragon is on the ground again, Kendra perhaps stupidly rushes the dragon to attack him again with her two swords.

"Aside from healing, is there anything else you can do about this dragon?" Kendra asks. She continues to protect William at this point as she doesn't know what else she can do.

While she does have a bow, she knows the chances of actually hitting him from way up there are a little more slim than when she was attacking him with her swords. Despite how badly wounded she is, Kendra continues her onslaught on the dragon even though now their only hope of help has been engulfed in flames.

I'm a fan of the Southern Ergoth idea. It sounds like a little bit of a compromise between experimentation and a typical game. You get to explore a land that isn't typically explored in Dragonlance, but you also get to have a basic party with basic D&D stuff, if that make sense.

Kendra doesn't have a clue as to how long this is going to last, but she keeps up her attack with her swords. She managed to find a hole in the dragon's scales once, she so she hopes she can do it again.
